I'd assume you need to feed it RGBHV or VGA proper unless it specifically mentions handling something like RGBS, RGsB, etc.

So after around 2 months of just playing Xbox One, it felt weird but good to be using the PS4 again yesterday. It really is the superior system. I do like the XB1, but it does have its faults.

Grumble...I want to get something hing better than composite out of my SNES, Genesis, and my brither's PCE but all of the mods are for RGB. they aren't too difficult either, but I have nothing to connect RGB to!

I'm not 100% sure but, I'm pretty sure the HS and SFP Trinitrons don't process 480P or better (the option is greyed out). You could stick a video processor with RGBS inputs in the chain and it probably wouldn't change the lag much if it is defeating the processing. Another option would be an RGBS to Component (YPbPr if you prefer) transcoder or converter.

These are also an option but, they aren't much cheaper and require adjustment to get it right.

S-video mod. Better than composite and all the old trinitrons I've seen still have it.
I have one PSX console that has s-video output and it isn't modded.

That is an option, yes. I even have a chassis mount S-video connector on hand.
I have never seen a PSX with S-video. I have a chipped audiophile console though.

Japanese launch console SCPH-1000. Yes it's an audiophile version.
