I think I might sell my PSP.
I know I just got it and felt guilty about the last one I sold, but my Vita can boot PSP CFW now ... I can play PSP games on my 50" television with a DS4 controller. Not to mention the "adrenaline" homebrew is actively supported by the author so there is only going to be more functionality over time, including PSX.

haha, and it all runs on the Vita now. The memory management software even added USB support now. So the ux0 partition opens up as removable media as soon as you connect it.

I guess all that leaves is cheap storage for the PSP (and the permanent nature of CFW ). If you want to play something on a CRT there's also component out.

You're not wrong. Although I am rather particular with which systems I run through my Trinitron. Actually, I just ordered an HDMI-to-DVI adapter for it. My 32HS510 has a DVI input, but the DVI does not carry audio so I either need to find an HDMI cable that has broken-out audio connectors or ... something?

There are some cheap hdmi converters around that have dvi plus 3.5mm audio jack (also optical audio too). Like around $10-15.
It isn't a cable though, it's a box with psu.

    Spoiler warning:

I have seen these too. They call them audio extractors, I think. Hm...now that I look at an HDMI pinout, the audio is not analog is it? Thats why they need a PSU.
Looks like the PS4 slim and PSTV can't transfer audio to my CRT unless I bought a powered extractor. The PS2 and 3 have component a/v.

Now that I have it all laid out like that, I don't have anything I would/could hook up to this via HDMI. Good thing I only spent a buck.99 for the adapter.

Yeah I think they're called extractors. Probably worth the little bit of money as you can also run optical audio to an external system, which is vastly superior to using rca + tv speakers.
This is just for pre-hdmi surround though.

I grab the Vanilla wafers and chocolate sandwich cookies from the local cheepo stores, Cookie you would flip at the quality and the price.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
