    Default Getting started with MAME

    Hi,
I've grown up playing arcade games in the 80's and 90's. Trying to give my son a flavor of some of the games I've played as a child. I've done some some reading and downloaded a few emulators to play some of the games I have but so far, no luck.
I have two roms (galaga and 99 The Last War). I've tried a few emulators but it would produce error messages when I try to play the games.
I'm using MAME 0.176 and tried Galaga Namco and got other supporting Namco files but I see a message saying about known issues with the machine and the video is all scrambled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for street fighter but not sure what rom files I would need with this machine.

I have windows 10 and windows 7 boxes.

    Thanks in advance.

I got this rom from http://www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-...Last_War/10950
Not able to get it to work. Any help with the correct emulator or other supplement files needed?

I got Galaga to work with but what files do I need to get MK and Street Fighter working?

    Thanks.

MAME DB is massively out of date, I would not bother even looking there now

    Direct Download Links:

    Download '99: The Last War (99lstwar) (12K)
    You are downloading: 99lstwar.zip

    Parent ROMs:

To use this ROM with MAME you also need to download the following parent ROM
    Repulse (repulse)
The quote is from the link you gave you just need the parent rom that is the exact same game as it happens but it was just known by a different name

Parent roms are the key and most the games at EP will tell you if you need a parent rom or a certain bios image (don't bother with the Bios pack it is also out of date)

The only extra rom that seems to not get mentioned is the CPS2 sound chip Q-Sound dump needed by most CPS2 games we have it, but it is not mentioned under each CPS2 game

    Mod projects - XBOX
Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 & 2 - online quests in offline mode packs [COMPLETE]
    [Quest Packs Collection]
GTA San Andreas - Hot Coffee [COMPLETE]
[Mod ready] & [Full ISO ready]
GTA San Andreas - Real Car Names extra content mod [WIP] [Back burner, just won't have the time ]

    Hi Zolron,
I was hoping that you'd reply to this thread. I've read your other threads. Thanks for all your help to all of us noobs.

I got a few games working but my favorite MK3 and Street Fighter (latest working on mame) are still not working. Would appreciate if you could point me to the right files. I downloaded sfiii3.zip, sf2t.zip. Didn't see any other files that I needed with that.

    Thanks in advance.

http://www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-...Q-Sound/164687 is needed for Capcom System II games

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike uses CHD's

Not sure about Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting it could be that it needs the roms from it's previous game though Street Fighter II': Champion Edition
