Default Spyro 3 not working on ePSXe

Hello, I am somewhat new to emulation and I have been having issues with getting Spyro: Year of the Dragon to work on ePSXe 1.9.25 starter pack. I have done lots of research so far and I have found out that I need to mount it as a virtual disk and patch it with a ppf and use a .sbi file. I found a version of the game with a .bin and a .cue file. Without doing anything to the files the game launches but crashes continuously after I enter the 2nd level of the first world (Sheila's Alp). Next, I used bchunk to make an iso from the .bin and .cue files. I had the options of a standard format(which is what Windows can natively read but does not work for ePSXe), a psx format (which ePSXe and windows can't read), and a RAW format (which Windows could not read but ePSXe could). I made the ISO in the RAW format and ran it with ePSXe just to make sure it would work. Next, I used the portable version of WinCDEmu 4.0 to mount the iso to a virtual cd drive because Windows could not recognize it. I then used P.E. Op.S. CDR Driver 1.4 to run the CD-Rom and patch it with a ppf file on the spot (I don't know if this ppf files works at all though) and used an sbi found on psxdatacenter for the subchannel data. I ran the CD-Rom and all that was there was a black screen.

    Computer Specs:

    Processor: Intel i7-6700HQ @ 2.6ghz
    Memory: 16GB DDR3L
Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce GTX 960m
    OS: Windows 10

Don't convert bin/cue to iso it can wreck images.
ePSXe can use sbi files iirc.

I think ppf patch is only for images that you are going to burn for use with real chipped console (maybe I'm wrong though).

You put sbi files in the patches folder.

This did not work for me. It was the exact same with and without the .sbi file in the patches folder.

Are you sure you have the correct sbi and is your game dump a good working one?

The game works completely fine up until the point when it crashes. The sbi should be correct but I don't know what the name should be

Also, is there anyway of verifying that the sbi is loaded?

The sbi should have the relevant game ID as the name iirc. Pete's CD plugin might need to be set to use subchannel.

After a little read you might be able to use the ppf in the patches folder instead of using sbi. Enable auto ppf.

First, if the serial number of the game is SCES-02835 should the file be named SCES_028.35.sbi ? Second, I don't know where I can find a ppf file, all I found was a .nfo file and a .5 file (I think)

    Yes.
Are you sure the game you have is that serial though? (You can open the disc image to check).

You can get the sbi (and maybe even the cue too) you need from redump. There are 2 dumps with that serial over there, one is original and one is platinum.

Its not there for SCUS-94467. Should I just use the PAL version instead? I heard that it has more problems with emulation but it actually has sbi files

SCES-02835 is PAL, why are you talking about a US version now?

NTSC-U shouldn't have libcrypt so it shouldn't need sbi.

Yay! It worked! I just used the PAL version with the sbi and cue files that I got from redump. Thanks!
