What is the easiest way to hack the 3ds?

I have the firmware 11.0. I have been looking into it, and I think I got it down to two.

I have seen there are a couple of ways.

Smash Hax - seems too hard for me.

Freak Forms - I'd have to buy the game, but I heard it is easy.

Luma - it is a time sink, but i heard it is easy.

I mostly want to hack my 3ds for the pokemon. When I transferred my saves for them 3ds to the new 3ds, I screwed it up and all of my save data was gone, so I lost all of my pokemon. I guess there is a generator/editor for the 3ds for pokemon, but I would need to hack my 3ds first.

You mean CFW? I thought if you're on 11 you can't do anything, not even downgrade. But it has been some time since I looked into it.

For 11 it appears you have to downgrade via hardmod or DSiWare and second 3DS with CFW.

If the OP is only after saves backup/editing (and wants to stay 100% legit, no flashcard or hacks) I would research something like NDS Adaptor Plus. I'm pretty sure it can be used to wipe saves from 3DS carts like Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D that otherwise can't be erased, but I have no idea about how compatible it is with other (and more recent) games.

Well now that i'm looking at the guide, yeah. I need another 3ds at lower firmware or hard modded....
Luckily, I have a JPN 3ds that I haven't used in ages. I'm going through it now. I just got browser haxs to work. I guess i'll post back when i'm done.

I accidentally updated it, I was on part 3 too! It kept giving me this error:

I thought it was just updating the themes. Well great. Now there is nothing I can do. To boot, I lost all of my games and saves too.




Is Sky3ds+ any good? I think I should be able to use sky3ds+, download freaky forms and then do the freaky hax, correct?

If you've accidentally updated to 11.1 then Ocarina of Time or Steel Divers are good options for homebrew access. On an original 3ds you can full-speed emulate NES, Mega Drive, SNES, SMS, SG-1000, Game Gear, Game Boy / GBC and quite a few ScummVM games. All isn't lost even with O3DS on latest firmware but I'd perhaps try to buy a unused older unit (preferably an N3DS) which will probably be on a exploitable firmware for the downgrade road to CFW.

I am a little curious about this myself I have a New 3DS XL that is already modded FW 11.0, well I got that because I accidently updated the real nand instead of the Red nand on my o3DS XL, but I do have firmware backups from my o3DS XL on 9. whatever it was and maybe even 10. whatever

So my idea is that I don't need a second 3DS on equal firmware to be able to do this I just need a DSiWare exploitable game and restore my firmware or am I missing something....

I do have an o3DS that is modded also well I gave that to my Wife, not that she is into games like I am (Mostly Megadrive classics and the odd game I managed to get her into) I would rather not use that if I can avoid it

Hardware mod is not a realistic idea for me as I'm not a confident solderer, not looked at availability but only certain SD card readers work also, so it is rather limited to those that have the hardware and the solder skills to do that

EDIT er nope what I suggested can not be done as there is no way to add the hacked save for the DSiWare game that is stored on the nand not the SD card

Think I will just sell my old 3DS XL, just thought it would be cool to hack that and give it to my kid sister, it has a loose charger connection anyway so prolly best off without it and format the thing and remove my old NIN account from it

I still have the Original 3DS and a nice New 3DS XL, Supercards for both and both CFW hacked already
