    Exclamation Problems setting up ePSXe

I've been attempting to set up ePSXe for the past few days to no avail. I'm using ePSXe 2.0.5 and have been fumbling about with options and Pete's plugins. I have tried multiple games but continue to experience the same problem -- a black screen with Windows notifying me that the program has crashed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Computer specs:
    i7 2600k
    GTX 970
    8GB @ 1600MHz
    Windows 10

Is there a specific reason you need to use ePSXe? If not, you could try out Retroarch with Mednafen core and see if you have any better luck with it.

I was going to use WiiSX on my Wii U but I was told that the compatibility of ePSXe is far better. I'll try out Retroarch instead. I'm still open to any suggestions, though.

Retroarch is a good way to go once it's setup it's setup but with ePSXe you may need to change some settings to fit certain games, only real advantage to ePSXe is enhanced graphics that retroarch is starting to do also anyway

the ePSXe issue sounds like a lack of runtimes though possibly C runtimes missing, but does windows not give you anything other than the program has crashed, you usually get an error ID or a bit more information

No, I don't get any information when ePSXe crashes. Do you know what versions of C++ are needed to run ePSXe?

again when testing just go for booting the bios to rule out any PSX disc image issues

No luck. I'm not entirely sure if Visual Basic 6.0 even installed -- I can't find it in Programs & Features. Maybe it's a compatibility issue?

Try going for the latest version whatever version that is but make sure you get the x86 version as ePSXe is a 32bit/x86 program rather than 64bit/x64

Not sure if you still need it but some versions of ePSXe needed zlib.dll in the same folder as ePSXe
