Arrow New Member ~ Long time Lurker (introduction + two questions)

    Good Afternoon,

My name is JesZeK and I live in Honduras; I've been visiting the Emuparadise website for learning and downloading content, since many, many years ago; but this is the very first time I post here, so despite that I've been running emulators and repairing old gaming consoles since many years ago, you can consider me a Newbie; especially at this Forum.

I have two simple Questions: I have two Atari 5200 consoles + Cartridges, but I can Not find a Great Emulator for Windows; could you point me on the right direction?

The 5200 was my First console and I want same game experience, for my Little Daughter, but I prefer to let her use an Emulator, instead of the 35 years old Hardware, you understand...

Second Question: I run the Dolphin Emulator with great success, on my PC, which I built six years ago; it has a Dual Core Quad intel processor @ 2.6 Ghz, 4 Gb of Ram and 1 Gb video card; you can see an example of my Emulation, on a Video I made, shared on my YouTube Channel:

I've downloaded Two ROMS for the Dolphin Emulator, which are:
    .
    1. Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA)
    2. Super Mario Sunshine (USA)

Both came compressed in the 7z format, and I've tried many ways to uncompress them, but WinRar and 7z can't open them; so the Question is:

Should I download a especial software to Uncompress those ROMS?

Thank you for reading such a long introduction, for your time, and for allowing me to be a Part of this Great forum.

    Greetings from Honduras, Kind Regards.
    JesZeK

Use the latest version of 7zip from the official site.

    Already tried that, unsuccessfully.

Despite that the 7z roms were downloaded three times,

7z gives a message while trying to extract those ROMs:

"Cannot open the file as [7z] archive
    unexpected end of data"

Sounds like it's an incomplete download. Your connection may have dropped for a moment. Checking the filesize vs what it says on the download page could verify this.

Only thing you can really do is download again - maybe use a download manager like FDM which has a good resume functionality.

Edit: was it a main site download or a user upoad here on the forums?

A couple of minutes ago, I tried to rename those 7z files, changing their extension from .7z to .iso, .rar, .zip, and .gcm, without avail.

    Yeah that won't do anything.

Edit: can you post a screenshot of the files you got??

As far as I can remember, I downloaded the "Super Mario Sunshine" and "Mario Kart - Double Dash!!" from Emuparadise, some months ago, and I've been "toying" with a copy of them, trying to extract the compressed images; because my little Daughter wants those games since long ago...

Definitely try downloading again and make sure you have the whole file/download is fully complete. Should be 964mb whilst zipped for example.

If this doesn't work maybe one of the staff can check the file itself as I'm on a mobile device and can't exactly do it at the moment.

Yes of Course, here you go:

You can see the other four ROMs (non-7z) working flawlessly, on my Video above.

My Windows 7 "Ultimate" is in Spanish, as I live in Honduras is my mother tongue,

I learned english only by myself; so sorry for my misspellings... Kind Regards.

Thank you for your kind advice.

I'll retry the Downloads for a fourth time this incoming Weekend; because the internet speed I have at home, Sucks; I'll travel to visit my parents at my Hometown, and try to download those files from their internet connection.

    Kind Regards.

Yeah see Mario Sunshine is shown at 416mb when it should be 964 so it wasn't quite halfway finished. That's all. You need to download again.

Edit: use a download manager to insure it can resume if there's a connection loss. Free Download Manager is a decent one as well as Jdownloader but make sure with jdownloader you use the offline installer. Trust me it's worth looking into/just google it.

In the Past, long ago, I used a small program called "GetRight" as my Download Manager, but I've not used such a thing since the rise of Windows 7; and I am afraid to install a download manager, because many file hosting websites, such as DepositFiles, Mega, Freakshare, etc... simply doesn't allow the use of Download Managers.

However, I will read further about FDM, it means "Free Download Manager" isn't it?

    Kind Regards.

Yup and it works with this site. I don't know if getright is still around but you've got the right idea
