Unhappy PS2 issue with EmuParadise ISO files.

So I recently wanted to get back to playing games on my PS2 (for reference: SCPH-90004CB with Matrix Infinity Modchip 1.93). So I went and bought a lont of DVD-R's, downloaded a few ISO files and burned them. But I had a major problem: the Sony Entertainment System text showed up with the blue pillar animation behind it and the PlayStation 2 text also showed up. But after that the PS2 won't load the game. It does some sounds but nothing else happens. Example video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkuUNZ1YUro
    What do I do?

The media you're using is probably junk. If they are junk they will be ok for data (computer) or DVD videos (stand alone DVD/BD player).

Brand doesn't mean much as they can have good and bad sources (manufacturer). Eg Verbatim have some crap discs made by CMC.

I am using PHILIPS ones, but here comes another issue: 10% of games work and 90% don't. What now?

Oh, I now see that these are made by CMC...

    go get some good media

I use Verbatim DVD+R's from Amazon.co.uk (direct from them not a 3rd paty seller, I usually go for 100 disc spindles)

+R is by standards a higher quality media vs -R's, the only versions of the PS2 that does not read +R's is the first few bulky PS2's due to the fact it was made before there was +R media

If you want something better than CMC but still cheap then look for Ritek. You might still get a few bad discs out of 100 or 50 pack but for the price they're ok.
Ritek could be self branded, or could possibly be Memorex or Maxell brand...but I would get Ritek branded ones just to be sure of what you're buying.
