That was back when everything was handmade and checked (the numbers are handwritten). Haven't looked at their stuff for a long time now, never had any trouble with these at all but I guess I could get Dad to take a look at the crossovers and maybe see if some stuff could be replaced with better components now.
Anyway, I've never had any complaints Great for music, but I do use 2x Yamaha subs for surround.

Oh and these are a matched pair, unlike a lot of leading brands back then that cost the same or more.
Everything shook out to Sennheiser on top for me. Hifiman and Audeze have poor QC, Stax would've required waiting for a deal used pair with an amp, etc. Selling unmatched speakers seems kinda crappy, why would anyone go for a pair?

I intend to get a modest 2.1 setup at some point.

Because back then plenty of brands were just making speakers on lines and testing them, not as matched pairs though. You could spend a heap of dollars to get proper high end speakers, but for cheaper stuff you couldn't really get that except from smaller makers like Richter, I mean their stuff was always good value here because it was made here and wasn't high volume production.
Not really custom speakers but pretty close, just numbered low volume runs using quality components.

The tweeters in these are aluminium voice coil which was pretty amazing back then. I think the woofers might be made in Denmark but I'm not sure

I've been running at least 5.1 for 20 years
In the beginning I just had a pro-logic setup that would extrapolate from a 2 channel source input.

I don't want to spend more than $1000 on the total setup (including a receiver), I don't think I can manage a 5.1 setup without stepping down on speaker quality. I'd also need to completely rearrange the room and I'm not sure if I've got the space for so many speakers .

I've always had at least one whole room for home theatre (also music and games). Even back when I didn't own my own house and was sharing with at least one other person.
I mean since the 90s anyway.

I mean I am nowhere near being nuts like some people...spending a heap of dollars every few years on upgrading shit.
I still use the same mains decades later...rears, center and subs have changed but they've always been cheap Yamahas.
Change tv sometimes but I never spend huge dollars on that, they lose value too quickly like a lot of things.

It'll be a once and done setup for me whenever I do it. Once I replace the TV with a monitor that will stay until there's a problem or a very compelling reason to change. The only thing I'm willing to throw money at too frequently is PC hardware .

I have never done that. I mean 20 years ago I'd be upgrading stuff on the cheap but I gave that up a long time ago.
I just stick to consoles and standalone players
