I think Jack gets free access via his ISP.
But yeah, most of the world has to pay for usenet. Maybe there are free trials available but I never bothered myself.

Cost me about £27/$40 for the year (before Brexit) unlimited access 600 day retention. It's usually $50, but you can grab it cheaper around black Friday to Christmas time.

Try Hitnews 3 day unlimited Usenet for free, just need a different email to get a new account.

I used to, but they've started quietly removing the main groups, so I've moved to a paid service.

I read about that. Fucking crazy shit man.

Meanwhile, I used a lure on a Poke Stop at a park and a bunch of nerds came rushing to catch Pokemon. All I did was use it as an experiement.

Newsgroups aren't completely off copyright holders radar...maybe they only just recently realised that

like a boss i smoked a bong and nearly sicked up my lungs seeing that.
    ...
i think i just saw a brass eye plot line there?!
i want a gun, so i can be free, have a sense of humor.
come to england and try that wonderful experiment on social engineering and you'll find two stark reminders why it's not a good idea.
1, we have no sense of humor, we laugh at others deaths for brekkie.
2, due to our repression, we project our darkest desires onto the reasonable and the lynching ensues. (sensor judgments from gob-breathers, NOT readers)
as a result of this, we use our ultimate weapon of violence out of sheer spite and send in the monopoly on 'it' boys to remind you, that if any social experiment is to take place, it's done by them ALONE!
cops are allowed guns/kill on whim and allowed to hurt children, (rotherham) they have more rights than peasants and have a nice following of local stoolies and lackeys.
    ...
    on a rambling binge...

Nah, they just didn't give a shit until the courts started forcing them to block sites, usenet etc.

Wasn't sure of the legal environment.
Technically newsgroups aren't any better or worse than torrents.

I think officially here there is the potential for sites being blocked but ISPs aren't forced to do that by law. Mine has never blocked anything...only stuff I've ever seen blocked (and not really blocked in the sense of sites being inaccessible) are normal things like youtube regional locks for content.

There are sites that list nzb files, so once your newsreader is set up, it's similar to torrents. I normally max out my connection on usenet, and I don't have to seed.

With torrents I'm only uploading 1k while I'm downloading so I never seed. Public trackers don't care about ratios.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who gets ignored.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
