Your better off buying a AMD Athlon than a duron. AMDs and intels bothe run similarly, but amds are cheaper therefore a better choice
Griever is right, don't get a Duron, cos you'll only be kicking yourself in a year when there are 2ghz athlons out. Get an Athlon 1.4Ghz chip (should cost about $150)
Only thing you need to concern yourself with is heat. The Athlon 1.4 is very hot, where as a Duron runs a lot cooler.
