Asides from file converting I think you may be on your own for the emulation issues, it's not a hard game to get working to be honest, though I can totally understand new user issues getting things setup first time in almost any emulator

Anyway I am very happy you finally got the game working and hope it was well worth the effort to get there

You're right. The hardest part is to get the first game going.
Now I know what to do. I can even use my Nimbus bluetooth controller that I bought with my Apple-TV!
But still: It requires about 10 minutes work to get a PS1 game with .ecm and .ape files to work.

Now I wish there was an emulator that could increase the resolution.
Like 4K televisions do.

would not know about ipad emulation...

but as far as going for a higher graphical experience for 3D PSX games goes PCSX-Reloaded might be worth a look but this will seem like a very complicated emulator to start with (2D games or pixel based games all you can really do is apply filters, it is only 3D polygon games that can have higher resolutions and have any sort of visual effect)
