Default Problems booting wii games on hardmodded wii console.

Hi, I got a wii console, presumable hardmodded, cause there's no homebrew channel and it can play burned games, my problem is that not all the discs I burn are recognized by the console, so I want to know why if the isos or wbfs files I use on my pc are working, but when I burn them more like half of the disc aren't working at all. I mean, I don't burn a wbfs file I use wiibackup manager to change it to iso, most of the games I download are ntsc, so it's not a region issue, recently I started to test the isos and I found out that wii region patcher tells me that the image is probably not a wii image, odd because again I can play them on dolphin (but not really because I've got a really slow pc making gameplay too slow to give a try) so burning isos or wbfs converted to iso don't seem to work all the time.

    Any advise?

Depending on what mod it is exactly. It might not like certain games such as; hacks, images that do or don't have the update removed, region patched games (some may work but others won't). Maybe it's possible that it's an old modchip and some of the last games made don't work..but I'm not sure about that. I have WODE and it required firmware updates for the last games made (pretty much only the DVD9 releases iirc but maybe I'm wrong about that idk).

Other factors might be the media you're using for burning. Are the discs all exactly the same manufacture (not brand, manufacture)?

It's really hard to say without knowing what modchip it is for starters. If you knew that you could do some research about possible compatibility issues

I haven't had the chance to open my wii, I don't have the special screwdriver, I always use the same brand of dvd-r for my discs a cheap brand called Matrix and yet I got hundreds of matrix disc still working after like six years maybe because I rarely watch the tv series that content those discs.

By the way I burned like 30 gamecube games and the all work even those that do not use all the space of the disc (funny cause I burned them on a big dvd-r not minidvd) speaking of gamecube burned games I do own a chipped gamecube and this one barely read the big burned discs but minidvds seem to work fine, I alreaddy calibrated it cause previously always gave me error and the message of turning off the console and I don't know what else... I went the wrong direction....

Well, I'm screwed, I wonder if I can softmod the wii and still use the disc channel without affecting the chip? maybe I can play burned discs without problems through neogamma or something like that using burned discs?

The "special" screwdriver would only cost $1 or so on ebay from China.

You should be able to softmod and leave the modchip in there. Well, at least I know you can do that with WODE.
No point using burned discs if you have softmod, just use game dumps via HDD.

The difference between mini and full sized DVD-R's is nothing asides from space, so the mini DVD's must just be higher quality to the matrix DVD-R's

P.S. DVD+R' are higher quality to DVD-R's dvd's and both the GC and Wii can read those

    As above...

To be honest an external USB HDD on the Wii is a much better way to play both GC and Wii games on the Wii as well as emulators for the Wii and Wiiware (better because of faster load times ect ect and no burning )

There are tons of loaders now NeoGamma is not one I would use myself though,
I wont use burned DVD's on either the GC or the Wii myself but I have done in the past,
the GC had horrible lag from DVD for some games due to the drive reading -/+R media slower than pressed media
(pot tune ups did not help with that) and for both, the drive reading burned media will eventually degrade
and start to have reading issues (though that is a very very slow process,
partly depends on how much you use the devices also)

The problem with used Wiis is that many of them have been playing discs via the optical drive for years and kids have been using them, so the lasers have been quite abused really.
Yeah going for the HDD option is the best thing.
