There's a submachine gun (.45 rounds iirc) somewhere that I use pretty much all the time since I got it. Has a little explosive splash damage for each bullet
The rounds themselves aren't extremely plentiful in the game so had to use merchant glitch to stock up on them.

Yeah, ammo seems to be world-dependent from what I have read. I can find 10mm anywhere I go, but I had five .44 caliber rounds for the first 10 hours of gameplay. Only recently have I began to find more in shops. 3 or 10 at a time. I have no problem finding .45's but other people will tell you that they have hundred of the 44 but no 308's.

I really like that you can remove mods and attach them to other weapons. For example, I had a tricked out rifle that I used for a long time until I found a named rifle that shoots an extra round every time you pull the trigger. haha! I was able to remove everything from my main rifle and put it all on my new name rifle without using any screws or adhesives (gawd those two parts are always limited). Sometimes I even find a crap pistol with a single good mod which I can just switch to my main freely.

I didn't play much of NV, but a load of F3.

For craft materials: spend some time scouting near any settlements you have collecting stuff. After a while you get an idea of what to pick up for certain things.
Same for merchants if you use the glitch: grab all ammo and just some things that have materials you need.

Not acceptable IRL: massive collection of antique globes and commercial bottles of wonderglue.
Im still new to settlement building but I understand the concepts. Do the gathered material go straight into your workbench? I had codsworth assigned to gathering for days but he just seemed to dick around.

Establish as many settlements as possible all over the place mainly as drop points for materials and loot. Make sure you setup trade routes so all settlements are linked.

You've probably already realised long ago you can scrap everything in a settlement zone too.

I'd advise you to not make a settlement at starlight drive-in though...save that for much later when (and if) you want to do the settlement max happiness trophy.

THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

Everything is available via workbenches and the settlement building menu. You'll need all bench types so you can do everything though.

You can make adhesive itself by growing plants, harvesting and then using the cooking station. Create vegetable starch, then break that down into like 5 adhesive I think.

    Shameless c&p:
There is a recipe in the cooking menu under util called 'vegetable starch'. I accidentally discovered that vegetable paste breaks down into adhesive. Specifically, FIVE adhesive.
The recipe calls for 3 each of mutfruit, corn, and tato. All of these can be grown at your settlement, giving you a permanent supply of each. It may take a while to get the operation spun up (not long -- see below for getting started), but since you can harvest and replant, you should be able to get a massive amount of each, eventually.
The recipe also calls for one purified water. If I'd told you that you could turn one purified water into five adhesive, you'd probably be pretty happy, but it gets better. If you build a water purifier in your settlement, you will occasionally get purified water deposited at the workshop. I built an industrial sized water purifier in the river at Sanctuary, and when I went to check I found 31 purified water in my workshop. Also a good source of health.
Screws: you can salvage these by having the right perk and scrapping weapons/armor (might be the Scrapper perk? ).

But you need to link settlements via trade routes, this way any junk you deposit at various settlements will all be linked together.

I got the scrapper perk recently so screws are getting better but I had no idea about the water purifier or vegi starch!

You don't know how to setup trade routes?

You'll need local leader perk iirc. Then you can command a settler to establish a trade route with another settlement.
You only need the trade route to go one way and then stuff is shared between the 2 settlements.

Then make sure all settlements are linked up in a network as such...no need to link every one to all others individually.

You can also setup merchants at settlements too...I think that's linked to the same perk but you need to rank up.

Ok, I was actually working toward that but my CHR is low. Cool.
