A lot of happy people about a FPS that looks amazing is nice to see. Looks like a blast, a goof, and a gaff.

It's so, so good. Only had time to play the first couple of levels last night but I'm dying to get back to it. The video I linked is one of the few that conveys the gameplay accurately. There's a real rhythm to the combat and everything just flows so beautifully, even with the execution mechanic.

I'll have to see how the rest of the game pans out but colour me impressed so far. I've been playing Doom and Quake since I was 10 years old, I knew what I wanted out of an updated version and so far this game is delivering it in spades. It's a brutal, fast paced, old school FPS. Exactly the way it should be.

I remember we managed to get Doom95 running on the school network back in the day. It only lasted about a week until the admins wised up and blocked it, but man, what a week.

It's a sequel/soft reboot in the same way Doom 3 was. It isn't a direct sequel to any of the previous games but it does reference and follow on from them.

I suggest you try each and see what you like best, don't go with retarded "backlog" logic.
