Default Cant get epsxe to run properly

ok. so i've been fiddling with the configurations of each of my plugins to try and get this thing to work. but no matter what i do, i cant get an ISO to run. (im not sure if it's because it's a .bin file and not an iso, but i havent found anything on my google searches that would tell me otherwise). i've even deleted the registry files in regedit and re-configured epsxe, but that didnt work either. i just keep getting the black screen with nothing loading (bios runs just fine, but when i load an iso, nothing happens)

not sure if it's my system specs, but just in case, here's a dxdiag copy-pasta

Run via the .cue file (there should be one along with the .bin file).

if you're refering to the game file, there's only a .bin and .ecm file. no .cue. if you're referring to the epsxe file, there's only an application file (probably .exe, doesnt say)

If you're seeing ecm you need to unecm.

    You're missing a .cue file.

You can grab the cue here but the cue will only work with single track games since these cues are for redump images and multi track games are split bins,

    http://redump.org/

If you get tired of epsxe let me know, there is a less hassle alternative.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

The emulator is the Mednafen psx core ran via retroarch.

Il teach you how to set it up, once its set up there is no more bullcocky with configurations per game.

    Here is the latest nightly

    http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/windows/x86_64/

Make sure you use your controller when you first start it, do not press the keyboard since the head dev kinda borked it temporarily regarding gamepad/keyboard registration, not sure if its fixed yet but just use your gamepad to navigate the GUI.

Grab the retroarch bios pack here,

    http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/in...Emulator_Files

You MUST set the bios directory before using a core that requires a bios or Retroarch will crash, put the Bioses in the Retroarch system folder and set that directory in the Settings>Directory section.

    F toggles fullscreen

F1 toggles the GUI when you are in game

I am currently trying to write a guide so constant instructions are not needed.

    i fixed my problem.
i deleted all of the emulation files i had. like, all of it. the emulator, the isos, and the plugins.
then i downloaded (from the epsxe website) epsxe 1.9.25 (the plugins came with the download thank god)
then i downloaded a DIFFERENT version of the game (instead of doing the (E) link, i did the [NTSC-U] link.
i configured it the same way i did previously (changed a few things like size of window and the resolution).
then i loaded up the game. it works, but unfortunately it runs slowly during cut scenes and walking is a little choppy, but it's tolerable)

psxdatacenter.com lists good configuration for games on plugin based emulators. Which adds another layer of hassle, but eliminates hours of tinkering with settings.

Try Retroarch. It's a little bit of config when you install each core, and then you're good to go.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Use the software plugin or use OpenGL (Not OpenGL2) or Direct3D on lower settings

for future reference use the ecm and ape guide that includes cue files for the few games that come without one
