your save type is wrong , must be set to 128 kb and I think something else but I'm not sure its been awhile.
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

You would not get a "save type not supported" for having the wrong settings as it would still work up to a certain point then just mess up as far as I know

What exactly are you trying to do and exactly what software are you using and files types are you attempting to use
P.S. VBA will detect the wrong settings for Pokemon and a few other games but you can use an extra ini file to fix that
