well i found out that i had not unziped the sq3 file but now it tells me that the file SDL.dll is missing but when i check the files it is there. i will try to download scumm again and see what happens. also it is scummvm 1.6.0-win32

so i have reinstalled scummvm and i still get the error msg saying that the SDL.dll file is missing which is not missing at all. i can see the file SDL.dll 307kb. should i just remove it and download the 1.7.0 version?

According to the official site sq3 has been supported since v1.2.0 but yeah I would use the latest stable version (which is 1.7.0 iirc).
Not sure about that error you're seeing.
