I have, Prada Man. But, saying it's like its predecessor isn't saying much.

hmm, just to make sure, you know that you said Star Ocean III, not the orignal, right? Its Star Ocean III - 'Til the end of time.

It's my favorite RPG of this generation, no doubt. The story is great and the characters are probably some of the most well developed ever.

Gameplay wise the game is pretty old school. Buy stuff in the few safe zones that exist in the game and then head on to the next dungeon. And here's when the gameplay starts to shine; the battle system. The "Press Turn" battle system works pretty much the same as in MGS: 2. It's a pretty fast turn based system that rewards you with an extra turn if you manage to hit the enemies using whatever magic/attack that they are week against. Enemies can also get extra turns by attacking your party's week points. After battle you get skill points that eventually will level up your current "mantra" and give you new skills. You can then choose a new mantra to start learning a new set of skills.

Graphic-wise the game looks pretty good. Some environments might look a little bland but that's the way the games look. It's a ruined world. The music is rather good in my opinion, especially the battle tunes. Composer is Shoji Meguro who seems to be hated by many but I'm not sure why.... I think his music really fits the MGS universe.

And lastly, the story. It's so fucking great! Taken from Snakelight's MGS site because I'm lazy:

That's pretty much everything there is to say about the story. It's impossible to speak of MGS2 without spoiling the storyline of MGS1. So hurry and play play those games now! DO IT!

'kay, I've had enough of the fooling around, no one would want to incur the Wrath of the Fat One, anyway.
That's far from what DDS actually is. Have you played it, just asking?

Oh and Panda Man, Lee, maybe I didn't say Metal Gear because it isn't an RPG? Just maybe.

UBER EDITNESS: My absolute favorite RPG to play through one time, would have to be Paper Mario.

My favorite, many play through rpg would have to be Final Fantasy Tactics, and FFT advance comes in close second

Just one absolute favourite? That's a tough one.

I'm torn between Suikoden II and Xenosaga. Suikoden II was far ahead of its time. The emphasis placed on the importance of friendship is a cliche, but with Suikoden they pulled it off. The characters all had great interaction and development, and the plot had a great balance of politics, love, friendship and betrayal. Definitely one of the greatest RPGs.

And then there's Xenosaga. Xenosaga is epic. It tells a story that spans centuries, and had the characters that made it a classic in my opinion. Though I admit it's far from perfect. For example any game in the FF series is an aesthetically better one in terms of visuals, pacing and gameplay, but Xenosaga had the story that no other FF (or RPG for that matter) was brave enough to have, and a damn good story it was.

Xenogears was my favorite game ever, even against other genres. The storyline and the development of it through the game were just amazing.

I bought the game a few months after it was released. I was in middle school at the time and was grounded from my TV and Playstation. My dad put the TV in the closet so every night I grabbed an extension cord hooked it all up inside my closet. Played the entire game in a closet with the doors shut and no sound except on the anime cut scenes to not wake up my parents.

It should be obvious that I'd mention either Xenogears or Valkyrie Profile (Possibly Star Ocean 2 as well) so for a change of pace I'll mention Tale of Phantasia, which is also another obvious answer you would expect me to say anyway =/

Also I'm not talking about the GBA version. The GBA version is absolute garbage in every way and the localization adds up to it too. Avoid it.

Anyway, great storyline. The graphics are amazing for the SNES version. Simply stunning stuff. The PSX version the graphics are okay when compared to other games for it and at least they're not as ugly and bad as the stuff seen in Tales of Destiny.

Tales of Phantasia has good gameplay too and with certain items the battle engine can become a fighting game. Though the gameplay is not as strong as that of Tales of Symphonia or Tales of Eternia, its pretty darn good.

The music is the best of all the Tales games I've played thus far as well. None of the come close. Destiny's, Symphonia's and Destiny 2's soundtrack was just meh. Whilst Eternia's soundtrack was nothing but garbage. The music of Phantasia is also better than a good sum of games out there as well.

Lastly the storyline. Of all Tales games, I've yet to see one best Phantasia's storyline (I am unsure on what Destiny 2's storyline is like though). The others fall under cliched ideas and are just uninteresting. Though they do present decent casts; Phantasia's storyline whomps them. It was nice how Symphonia trying to close all the plotholes but it only ended up adding more

Yes so Tales of Phantasia rocks. I haven't played Abyss or the remake of Destiny yet though. But I will at some point in time.
