As mentioned already, give Fallout and it's sequel a try. Awesome games.
Also, if you like RPG's I recommend Baldurs Gate II and Planescape: Torment.

The latter is usually true for that place.. but most of the stuff that comes out of that place makes the "omgakatsukileaderisfuturenaruto" "theory" look credible compared.

The price of the OS isn't really a factor for those that really want it. To play the newer games you have to upgrade the hardware anyway. The only bad thing I can see is that MS made DirectX10 Vista...

Well I would recommend Amsterdam too. Note, I've never been there myself, so the only reason I'd actually pick that place is for location issues. It's kinda "central" with regards to metal festivals...
