If you haven't played Gunstar Super Heroes and Advance Guardian Heroes, do so. They should keep you entertained for a short while.
If you like a bit of acrobatics in your platforming and killing, play Strider 2. Tis awesome.
I've always been fond of Dragon Warrior 7, but I suspect you already know about that one.
How about Saga Frontier 2? A lot more open-ended than FF, but recognisably in the same style of JRPG.
If we're throwing in PC games, I'd rank the Baldurs Gate games and Planescape: Torment ahead of the Fallout games.
