Ha, my work won't even shut down if some of us come into work with the virus. We'll just expel the problem people, temporarily stop working, clean the place (oh god, how?), then get back to fucking work.

Woof, that's rough buddy. Yeah it seems like most companies are paralyzed with indecision. It's wild, like I work for a pretty large company that is presumably suppose to take health seriously and this was the first week that they decided to authorize working from home.
Can you simply switch out a 5.25" floppy drive with a 3.5" floppy drive if the connector fits? I'm trying to make my brother's IBM 5150 a little more accessible. Both drive A and B (5.25) work intermittently.
There might be some driver requirements, but I'd assume that was sorted out 30 years ago?
Glancing at Google images it looks like people have done so: https://vintagecpu.files.wordpress.c...5/dsc04555.jpg
I'd think about swapping one of those drives for a usb (or SD) floppy emulator.
Thats pretty sweet. I wonder if they made a custom faceplate because the original 5.25" drives are an odd height.
ANd that keyboard is way better than the one we have. More function keys and a full sized return key!
I said so as well, but it all really comes down to money. My brother won't spend money on anything...
He did at least buy a 3.5" floppy drive with USB. He's used it to back some of his games when he couldn't find them online easily.
I was looking into some CF flash to IDE connectors, but I was unsure of the connectors. The ribbon cable has two female 5.25" FDD connectors and while we have an adapter to connect to a 3.5" FDD, we aren't really sure of the replacement drive's functionality. :lol The activity LED works when I try to DIR or FORMAT, but we get a "general drive error" which is that same error if nothing is connected to the cable.
Gotek floppy emu usb type is as low as $15usd on ebay, probably even cheaper on aliexpress.
I have a couple of 5.25" plastic trays here for fitting the smaller 3.5" floppy. The facia is part of the tray and the 3.5" hole is at bottom middle.
Dunno if you can still get those new though, and mine are beige not black.
I'm honestly sitting here wondering why I haven't lost my job yet... I don't think they want to fire anyone in midst of the virus going around. Sucks that we're working from home now. At least I get to play games in between calls.
Just for fun, extract ROM hidden in image using an Android app.
