Different rom names of a rom / from rom sets

Hi guys

at first , sorry for my english, im german.
I´m using recalbox4.1 and i downloaded roms sets from several sites for different systems.
In a zip file( for example splatterhouse for pc engine) there is more than one rom file. There are more romfiles with the same name but they got different letters at the end.

For example:

Splatterhouse (J) [b2].pce
Splatterhouse (U) [h1].pce
Splatterhouse (U).pce
Splatterhouse (J).pce
.....

1.Which one should i keep and why do they have different file names?:doink:
2. Which endings are the best for scrapers to find sth?:doink:

This issue is not only with pc engine roms, it´s also with megadrive roms and many more.

The first ones like (j) and (u) are regions like j for Japan and U for usa etc..

h is usually a game that has some kind of a hack and I think b is for a bad dump ( ! is for a good dump iirc)

They're usually so small that getting rid of them is pointless but if you want to trim down anyways I would keep just the (j) and or (u) ones.

I keep ones like this:
Splatterhouse (U).pce
Splatterhouse (J).pce

But if it has a [!], keep that one.
