Use an emulator for PSX games. PCSX2 is a PS2 emulator.
I believe there is more than one core you can use in retroarch, and there's also epsxe. Although there are other outdated emulators those two options are the best.
PSX games are CD based and a lot won't run properly in iso form due to multi tracks, better to use something like bin/cue format.
A note on ISO format images for PSX asides from multi track games there are games that use XA sound or even STR movies or container files for those will never work from *.iso file format as there is a XA header used that iso format can not contain as iso format does not store the external XA header info used but binary images do (*.img or *.bin are just a couple of binary types)
Alright I got a new emulator and got what I wanted working. Thanks a lot for the heads up!
I play both PCSX2 and PS1 games.
I've always had to use ISO files or img or ccd files to get games working.
For PS1 I recommend epsxe I wrote about it once - http://emulatorlowdown.com/2017/08/08/psone-emulator/
