So I was planning to upload some of my rips here, because I have games that I don't see here(or anywhere else). But before I did that, I thought I'd check a rip from one of my game discs that *is* up here.
I tested Super Paper Mario. My rip is 400mb when done from the disc in USB Loader GX. The file on this forum is about 10x larger at 4gb. They're both in "wbfs" format. So I'm really confused why there's such a massive difference in file size?
Having tried this on a few other games, like Epic Mickey - my version is coming out about 4gb as well. But some of my 400-900mb games are coming out as 4gb for other people. All I can think is that some wbfs files are not compressed well, if at all. My dumps match some perfectly but are a LOT smaller in other cases. I guess some files floating around are just not really compressed.
Yes some games are just really small and it's just dummy data to fill the disc so when compressed it can really shrink.
