new guy needs help, downloaded PCSX2 0.9.7 but cant get ROM to work with it.

So im new, so excuse me if this is a dumb question. I wanted to play espn nfl 2k5 on my macbook air. I downloaded the only emulator offered for my mac (pcsx20.9.7) inside it are the follow : library.pkg ,PCSX2 0.9.7 alpha ,uninstaler.pkg , and WxWidgets.pkg . I then followed the video that shows "how to play this game" .... i downloaded the ROM for ESPN NFL 2k5 , so i have both on my comp.But i cant get it to run the game. I Tried to go open the game file, it asked what application to use, i picked the PCSX2 0.9.7 alpha one .... it wouldnt run it . Any suggestions ? thanks alot.

iirc pkg files are installers for mac so you should just install pcsx2 on your steam, then open the program, and then open your iso file from the program.

Additionally, better get a new version of PCSX2, don't use the obsolete 0.9.8 program version. My package shouldn't work on OSX, but I can't believe that v0.9.8 is the current version for Mac, or? O.o

Sadly I think(not entirely sure) Mac support may have been dropped sometime back, http://pcsx2.net/download/releases/mac.html The latest version i see there is 0.9.7 for Mac, and from a few years ago at that.

Actually it was 0.9.7, the only 'current' official version for Mac.

so i tried that tutorial you posted mega, still no luck, i even tried this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=55&v=VX3dyGkb55E , ive gotten alot closer trying the method in this video, however , everytime i open the ISO , it seems to start to load but to a black screen , and it just stays black, Its showing the FPS at about 30 .... not sure what to do ...

Try a different game and see if you get the same results. The problem might be that that specific game was not playable in the version that is released for mac.

ESPN NFL 2K5? (and how I missed that..)

Well, the Windows version still marked the game as 'Ingame', even on the SVN builds, and since the Mac version was based on the old 0.9.7 version, I doubt it will load or even run past the title screen.
