Help with pokemon soulsilver

I just got the soulssilver rom and i am an hour in and i have gotten to the first trainer battle. The problem is as soon as i enter the battle, it refuses to start the battle. The music is still going. i have DeSmuME_0.9.9_dev as my version. Is this a problem with the ROM or the emulator. Pls help

Hmm I've never encountered such a problem before. Try finding a different rom first, and if that doesn't work try using an earlier version of DeSmuME.
