I never played the PSTV prior to hacking it. :lol
However, yes You can plug in a DS3 or DS4 and the DS4's front touch pad will act as the touch screen. You can also click R3 or R2 in to activate touch for the Vita's bottom touch pad...um the button combo may be different though - I am remembering off the top of head. This of course fixes compatibility with all black-listed titles meaning all vita games work fully on a tele.
Then of course there is Adrenaline which is the PSP CFW that runs on the vita. It lets you play anything that runs on the PSP - so PSP, PSX, etc. And has some pretty great video filter options and suspend operations.
I did some looking at the game library but nothing really caught my attention. price does seem high for something that's basically a slightly enhanced psp. it was just curiosity I really don't see getting anything new any time soon.
I forgot the Vita used those priopetary memory cards. Should have just allowed you to use any SD card or whatever. No wonder the Vita didn't go as far as it could have.
I presume it was a security decision to prevent people from freely moving files to/from, and they probably saw an opportunity to be greedy with them. I never ended up buying one of their proprietary memory cards because of how much they were and it worked out for me in the end. I've got a 64GB in my Vita 1K and a 128GB in a Vita TV.
