It keeps talking about paching & 3rd party support but no matter what I do, it will not download on my SNES mini.

There's an IPS patch here.

After getting the patch, scroll down the page where it explains that you need to rename the patch to 1c3848c0-Illusion of Gaia.ips and place it in the patches folder of the hakchi2 directory.
Or grab hakchi2.30 that has the patch already in the patches folder.
