Lunar Silver Star Story Complete - Save Menu

Hi, all. I am having a problem with this game, and I am wondering if any one else knows of it and/or a fix for it. It does not seem specifically emulator related, but fyi I'm using: ePSXe 1.7.0, Pete's OpenGL 2 Driver 2.8, and ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0. Anyhow, after beginning the game anytime I move from one area to the next (i.e. move to next screen, enter house, etc.) the save menu pops up. It is incredibly annoying especially because it takes a few second to load and a few more to exit. Any ideas?
