Nope, wouldn't be satisfying for me to complete a game by cheating.
I am not satisfied with myself either when I use cheats, but I only use them when I did already beat the game, when the game really sucks, or when I just feel like it.
I use cheats on 2 occasions , either when I beat the game a first time or I get tired of playing it and just want to hurry and beat the damn thing.
after I beat a game.
I usually try and beat a game legitimately the first time around and maybe use cheats for subsequent playthroughs if the mood strikes me.
Depends what you mean. Do I abuse cheap tactics in games like picking an OP character, or duplicate items? Yes I do, but only if it is already in the game like a glitch. Being able to break the game is always fun and rewarding.
However if you are talking about using cheat codes or a gameshark, for Unlimited Ammo, or Every Weapon unlocked, then no I never use those type of cheats. Like I said, I like to be able to figure out the game and then use the mechanics to cheat.
I usually try not to cheat on my first playthrough, but when I really can't beat a part of the game (like, over 10 failed tries), then I'll use cheats just for that part.
only after I've beaten the game as thouroughly as posible, first. I know all the Sonic on Genesis cheats, and that's only because I've already mastered each one. a GameShark/GameGeanie is an EVIL piece of hardware and WILL cause you to cheat in EVERY aspect of your life until you discard of it violently and without mercy! trust me, my brother onlt Thinks he's good at all games...
I use cheats only if the game is extremely difficult...or involves fatigue on my hands...like bubble bobble for instance - if there's a level i cannot pass legit(causes repeatedly dying) then i will cheat.
no i never use cheats until i completely beat the game. even then i doubt i would.
i only use cheats after i beat the game to have some added fun. and games dont even really use cheats anymore. i dont call it a cheat if its added into a menu in the game after you beat it. thats an unlockable. a cheat to me is when you press buttons (L1, R2, L2, R1, X, X, O, [], triangle). remember those? classic cheats.
I like to give myself simoleons
So that means if you cheat, you are a cheating whore???
I'm with everyone else on this, I have never used cheats until I had beaten the game and it is rare for me to use them before I did except for games like GTA where I tend to play a bit through story then I'd get dreadfully bored and use cheats to get some fun out of it before I moved on to the next.
I haven't cheated in RDR though, the story mode is too good.
I sometimes cheat if I play through a game a second (or third or fourth :P) time. It's usually to skip the more boring or annoying levels, and then get on with the fun ones.
I like to use cheats on the old sonic games when I want to play a certain level or just play with the debug mode spawning random stuff on the screen.
There is no set in stone for me. Games are first and foremost entertainment i.e. fun. If using cheats makes it more fun then I'll use them, if it ruins it, I won't. I don't brag though, even if I play cheatlesss, nor do I demean those that do cheat. If I do cheat, I am more likely to look for inf ammo cheats rather than inf health and games that I get really good at, I don't cheat unless it's to take out a scrappy mechanic. They're things that take fun out of a game. Challenge is one thing, frustration is another. You can usually tell when something is put into a game to piss off gamers. I leave cheating out of multiplayer to keep things fair, though.
I cheat on your mom.
I use to use gamesharks a lot. Which I regret now. Cheats really take away from a game. Now I hardly ever use cheats. I usually beat games without cheats these days. It's a lot funner to play a game without cheats. Even after I beat a game I don't use cheats and even if there is a really diffcult part that takes me many times to get past it.
as a last resort
I beat the game first without cheats. On the second try, I then use cheats. Did it with Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins.
I sometimes use cheats. I very rarely do though.
Current generation games do not require cheats to complete, and as such,I do not use them.now when it comes to some classic games, well that is another story...
The only time I can recall using a cheat or cheats... is when I was screwing around In GTA 3 and Vice City. Other than that. Nope.
I cheated the whole way through Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes. I just had a magazine with the cheat codes, and used them for fun, but when I saw, I had finished the game. It's fun to play with big headed babes thou.
I only use cheats if i already have beaten the game otherwise no i dont cause if i do that the game will be no fun :P
I only use debug cheats just to see what kind of crap you can do with the programming. Or very glitchy codes like no clipping or whatever. They're fun to mess around with, especially games like SaGa Frontier. All the PSX Final Fantasy's have debug menus that can be very fun to just fiddle with.
Ya think of that all by yourself champ?
Cheats were highly relevent for a very long time, especially on the gta3 games, but I haven't used for a long time, I think what started the decline for me was that alot of trophies were disabled if you were using them. Either way I'm happy enough in not using them, they dont have the hilarity that they did during the ps2's reign of power anyway!
yes. i mainly use max money. if its an rpg, i will eventually use exp modifiers
if its pokemon...i use pokesav
Twisted Metal 2 had some awesome cheats that i think enhanced the game via AR. I had a blast with that. Max turbo, Rapid fire, fun times. I even found a code to play as darktooth. however, playing as him made the game freeze, when you moved too fast or got hit and went flying. the furthest i made it with him, was the newyork drop, IIRC
When I was younger I used cheats whenever I could. I guess the sense of power appealed to me. I rarely use them now, and that's after I beat the game at least once.
I honestly can't remember the last time I used a cheat.
I have nothing against them (provided I've already beaten the game), I just don't find that much thrill out of it, like I did when I was a kid.
I think the last time I used cheats was when I tried my damndest to beat Battletoads on the NES. I use the Game Genie code for infinite lives. And still couldn't beat the game. :(
Not really, no. And I never cheat on my first playthrough.
In RPGs, I sometimes grab a maxed out save from GameFAQs if it's my second playthrough and I just want to blast through the story. Happened with Devil Survivor, which I played up to Day 4 or 5 then lost my save. And I didn't feel like re-doing all those fusions and grinding and stuff. In Mass Effect 2, I used a cheat to get infinite minerals and money for my second and third playthroughs, because fuck the scanning minigame. Fuck it.
I'll only cheat if I've already beaten the game, or if I get bored of it and can do so without consequences (Like in games such as GTA or the like, where my actions outside of the story mode won't affect the story mode at all).
I won't cheat in Armored Core, fighters, or action games. If I can play an RPG for an hour without cheating, I can play it for 10, cheating just speeds the game along. Given the chance, some serious cheating would have went down with Tales of Vesperia. I started avoiding all enemies 7 hours before I beat ToV; my levels were more than sufficient, and I was getting sick of fights.
Play it right now, no excuses :0:.Quote:
