Absolute Must Have PS2 games ??

Guys, am getting a little bored of the new PS2 games that I have, so I decided to look back and see if I missed out on some great titles :D So what would you recommend a guy who loves Action Games, Platform Games, etc and also sometimes loves FPS games if they are really good :P

Thanx a lot in advance :D

Edit: Please keep standard RPG games out. I already have so many of the good ones, heck even got FFXII, but I get bored of them pretty easily. Although I do love Action RPGs like Drakengard and the like =)

Edit II: I usually hate sports games but totally fell in love with Virtua Tennis 3 for PSP and played the hell out of it, and then I found out there is a PS2 version also albeit an older one by Sega named Sega Sports Tennis, and am totally loving it :D Are there any other PS2 Tennis games that I should look out for :D

Am also seriously looking forward to those kiddish Power Pro Kun Baseball games that Konami releases for DS and other consoles and is going to release the PS2 version pretty soon :drool:

As far as tennis games concerns, Namco's Smash Court Tennis games for PS2 are good too, but I still prefer Virtua Tennis.

Say, I just requested him to put Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner which people say is REALLY GOOD, and he's gonna put it in his ftp pretty soon :D So, I was thinking, is Zone of the Enders (first game) good enough ? or should I just go with the latest one ?

ZOE 2 is way better (and the OST is great). ZOE is good too, but too short.

Yeah I played it but then was getting a little bored, so I tried a few Codebreaker cheats and flattened four monsters in less than an hour :P It was fun :D

Good action games for PS2 are God of War, Devil May Cry and the Prince of Persia trilogy, but I have a feeling you've already played them. God Hand is also something I had fun with, though it's not for everyone, I guess. And yeah, ZoE2 is awesome. :wacko:

Haha....yeah....totally :D I've completely finished those games, but I have YET to install/unlock that "coffee mod" thingie in GTA SA :P, although I can't find codes for that thing anywhere :(

Yeah...I've played all of them except ZOE2 and thats why am so excited. Just COULDN'T find this game ANYWHERE :P Also, I finished playing all the Jak games and Ratchet and Clank games :)

Well Okami, ZOE, SSX, Devil May Cry, Ape Escape, Fifa street, Kingdom hearts, Dragon Quest VIII, Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 3 games are all great and then there is Tekken 5 :D.

That's Everybody's Tennis here in Europe. The PSX games were really fun especially in multiplayer mode.
Haven't played the PS2 game too much, but it will be worth your time if you are looking for something similar to Mario Tennis, it's an arcade tennis game with almost no room for simulation elements.

You got them right. ;)

Shame if you aren't interest in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It's not your everyday RPG. More like a dungeon crawler I'd say. And it's pretty gameplay heavy and not so much on the story. Give it a try! :P

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga is probably nothing for you though as they are more like the usual RPG bunch.

I'd like to add Silent Hill 2/3/4 to my recommendations. ;)

I'd say you should try all of them (if you haven't played them before). I can't comment on 3 (never played it...), but 2 and 4 were excellent in my opinion.

Also, Disgaea 2 is a nice game as well, Persona 3 too.

I knew you said something about RPG's, but those aren't your standard RPG's, maybe Persona 3, but those games rock in my opinion. Along with many games people have suggested here. :nod:

You should play all three Silent Hill games for the PS2, I agree. Although SH3 is more interesting if you've already played SH1, since the two games have a couple of connections.

No. Lacking too much in terms of polish for it to be asskicking. One does not simply rock into Mordor, you might say.

As a horror games fan i would recommend :

1- Fatal Frame Trilogy "people like the first more"

2- The suffering 1 " a real gem , the second was about action more than horror"

3- Siren 1 " and maybe 2 , i did not buy it"

4- Clock Tower 3 " i played it once for half an hour , a japanese version so i did not know what to do"

other genres :
Suikoden 3 and 5 , SMT:nortune "playing it now" , Indigo Prophecy "really good did not finish it till now , get the pal version and you will see a sex and nudity scenes ;-) , not in US version :D "

OH MY GOD! How could I forget Forbidden Siren 2? That is a must have game. An improvement over Siren in every single possible way. Easily my favorite PS2 horror game. SO AWESOME! :D

Try Forbidden Siren and see if you like it. If you do, but find it way too hard. Just skip to Forbidden Siren 2 right away. It's a much better game over all. But Forbidden Siren is also worth a play through.

Oh and in Forbidden Siren 2 you can select Japanese voice acting. Win! :nod:

Oh, dear me. I must second Suikoden III (mostly for the plotline, helps loads if you've played the two previous games and is down with the whole Suikoden timeline/universe and whatnot) and V. Suikoden Tactics is extremely amusing aswell, although the story's wank.
