I was going to use a poll, but there were too many consoles.
I didn't feel like saying my reasons for my vote, but you basically said it there anyways.
SNES or PSX for me, and no, I dont feel like giving reasons right now, you all know em anyways.
I vote for PSX. Tons of games I just love is on this console
PSX. For it's gerat RPG games.
Why not PS2 for example? Almost all PSX games work on it too...
There are 5 consoles that would compete for this position:
NES
SNES
Sega Genesis
PSX
N64
I lean towards SNES/PSX, two of the most successful consoles ever.
You'll probably notice that when a console is successful, it gets tons of games, giving it a chance to try out all sorts of gaming ideas, hence giving us a lot of gems, and the occasional diamond in the rough.
Id say NES, theres more games worth me owning that I actually enjoy playing
And why not PS3 then? :wacko:Quote:

I remember back in the SNES and Genesis days I would do chores to save up on buying more games for those 2 consoles. Now we have roms :)
SNES and PS2, I think. It's certainly not PSX, though. That's just crazy.
The PC, wait that's no console
YES! That game was amazing. I rue the day I sold my copy, been looking for another one ever since. :(Quote:

for some reason, when someone asked me what my favorite rpg for ps2 was, i couldn't answer... because there ISN'T any that are as good as the ones on snes/psx
Same here. N64 and DC(fighting games mostly) had a lot of good games too.Quote:

it pains me to say that ....my choice would be the snes and not psx. i just found that i enjoyed alot more games on that system.
This gen goes to PS2(not including PSX games). Greatest I think so far has been SNES.
It shouldn't pain you to say that you don't enjoy a system. Quite personally, I can't stand that many games on the Playstation at all. PS1 or PS2. The ones I've played I have not enjoyed.
My favorite system, for total games that I've enjoyed, is Nintendo NES. Second place: Super NES. Most other systems come in a distant third.
I would have to say PS2 counting PS1 in with that. There are just many classics that can't be beat.
The new Shadow of the Colossus that is coming out for PS2 is looking to be on the list of some of the greatest games of all time. I love it when simple games get the best ratings.
I have to say my Dreamcast, but I am biased. Of the other systems, I'd say the Nintendo 64 had the most game I actually played. I've never been a PSX fan, so I'll withold on that.
Based on every game I've ever owned, played or heard about I'd say:
#1) SNES - so many great action & RPG games, great sports
#2) Dreamcast - innovative games like Rez, Shenmue II, Phantasy Star Online, Samba de Amigo, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5, hundreds more
#3) NES - started it all after Atari f*cked up, have to give props where due
#4) PS1 - Vibration controller, good use of 3d, lots of movies, encouraged more Japanese-themed games (Nintendo always tried to Americanize things)
#5) PS2 - see above. More innovation, Bemani games, more use of Japanese-style games WITHOUT heavy localization, encouraging full use of hardware
#6) Atari 2600 - Without them, where would we be today?
#7) Genesis, Turbo-GraphX16, & NeoGeo - Pushing Nintendo to put more into development of games (SuperFX chip) & new technologies (dreaded VirtualBoy came during this time)
#8) Pong. The ONE game that introduced video games to the world
#9...) Everyone else
One thing: Nights was on the Saturn ;)Quote:

Second of course is the NES. It also has tons of great games on it.
Ever since the time of these two amazing systems passed I've yet to find a console that can compete in terms of games. PSX tried, but ultimately failed. Not nearly to the extent of the others however.
PS2. Only for the good:bad ratio. Snes had a much higher bad side than good (remember Battletoads, S.W.A.T. Cats, etc, etc).
Uh. SNES Battletoads for the win, even though they're not as rad as the NES one. They're at least as good as the arcade game, and that's pretty fucken fun. Also, I've enjoyed playing S.W.A.T. Cats on occasion.Quote:

As far as this topic, I'll have to say PS2. It has such a huge library of content that no matter what your gaming preferences, you'll find something you like.
Xbox just sucks, though. It's only good for Halo and even with that, it's still.....meh.
I suppose you must've missed Elin talking about how he doesn't dislike DQ. Because you're not intentionally disagreeing with Elin, are you? Because that would be pretty fucking out of line, even for the likes of you.Quote:

First would be SNES - nice RPG's, good platformers
and second would be psx/ps2 games - again nice rpgs but less of the good platformers and more action games
SNES and PSX
List is long, too long.
Umm...
1.PSX
2.SNES
3.NeoGeo
...
Eh heh... Your opinion of me is honestly a lot higher than it should be =/ My opinions mean precious little when it comes to games, I like some pretty bad games for no real reason whatsoever (though I do maintain that DQ most certainly isn't one of them. I thought it was wonderful), and I dislike some really good ones too. =/Quote:

Anyway, I couldn't possibly pick just one console; my favourite games are split over a variety of platforms. I'd like to go with the PSX, for it's abundance of good RPGs; it's definetly the console that I've spent the most hours playing. However, I'm not sure how many games on the PSX I really consider *great*. There's plenty that I really enjoyed playing through once, but only about ten to fifteen that stick in my mind as being really exceptional. I feel much the same way about the SNES: absoloutely tons of games I liked, but not quite so many I loved.
I'm also sorely tempted to say the Mega Drive / Genesis simply because it has so many games that I can just revisit again and again without getting bored (Sonic the Hedgehog, Rocket Knight Adventures, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage I and II, Shining Force I and II, Phantasy Star II and IV, Ghouls and Ghosts, Monster World III and IV, Toejam and Earl...the list goes on...), but I know that I'm blatantly biased towards the console as I grew up with it and I love most of said games as much as I do largely for their nostalgia value.
Hm. You win this one, Swede. I'll give you that much. The game was still wank, though.Quote:

Hmm, I'm stuck between N64 and SNES. If only Saturn had a couple more great games it'd be up there too.
I gotta agree the XBox of this gen has sucked pretty hard. It hasn't had very many good games and what it does have that I enjoy is mostly available to play on my PC. That's because of the lack of developers though IMO. The system did pretty badly in Japan.Quote:

I don't think it's fair to include backwards compatability in this. If so then Revolution will own everything since it's fully backwards compatible. So leave of the PS2 because of PS1 reasons :P.
