Thread moved!
If you're not entirely opposed to PC RPGs, you most definitely will want to check out Planescape: Torment, which is the best RPG ever.
Good lord laddie if you play ANYTHING, play Earthbound on SNES.
Truth. After that, Planescape: Torment.Quote:

Tales of symphonia is nice one, hope you have GC
Paper Mario & Paper Mario TYD are both good rpg's for you...
dont forget about Xenogears & Xenosaga.
Xenogears all the way. And Wild Arms 3.
All the previously mentioned titles and any RPG from the SNES era should do. :P
Chrono Trigger.
Oh, and there's this nice RPG for the NES called Sweet Home...
Yeah.
Chono Trigger = Great
Tales of Symphonia = Great but very very big, i beat the game in 50 hours
The Shin Megami Tensei series for the SNES is worth a look. You'll have to find a translation for them though.

Star Ocean. Go Play Now. Submit Your Life For Approval Before These Games. They Are Big Brother. They Know Best.
Ah, no, Shin Megami Tensei is part of a larger series of games (I believe they're referred to colectively as the Megami Tensei series, though I could be wrong...) that includes spinoffs such as the Persona series for the Playstation, and the Devil Summoner series for the Playstation and Sega Saturn. More recently, there's Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga for the PS2. Good recommendations indeed, they're not very...traditional RPGs, but once one gets to grips with the differences, they make for intriguing alternatives to the norm.Quote:

Star Ocean 2 + 3
Kingdom Hearts
Diagaea
Suikoden 2
Play Baten Kaitos for the Gamecube or Growlanser Generations for the PS2 :)
I definitely recomend games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Super Mario RPG.
I havent tried Star Ocean out personally, but I heard from some of my friends that its a great game.
For SNES:
Uncharted Waters 2 (New Horizons), this is more some sort of "simulation-rpg" though I guess, not your typical FF-like thing.
also good: Lufia and Romancing Saga 3 (Saga is only available as patched rom in english)
For PS:
- Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
- Valkyrie Profile. The battle system of this one has to be one the best around, it`s really fun.
i recommend:
Final Fantasy 3 (SNES)
Final Fantasy's 7 and 9 (PS1)
Tales Of Symphony (SNES)
Tales Of Symphony for the snes???
SNES only got Tales of Phantasia, didn't it...?
I think so.
I would check out Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Final Fantasy 6, or the Lufia series.
well just to let you know that tales of symphonia is out on ps2
Console
SNES - Might & Magic II - Slow but my alltime fave :)
PC - Baldurs Gate Series....Planescape
Not quite true, it depends on where you live.Quote:

I liked Skies of Arcadia and that is out for the DC or GC.
Psst. Forget about those other ones and just get Planescape: Torment. Good deal, good deal.
PC Action RPG? Torment is a good game, but Diablo 2 is even better.Quote:

Not action RPG. Diablo II is the king of action RPGs, indeed, but Planescape: Torment is more of a traditional one. Baldur's Gate, except a couple of million times better. Yeah.
Hard to consider Torment or Baldur Gate games to not be Action RPGs. They are much more "Diablo-Style" than "Console-Style" RPGs, like Septerra Core, for example. Anyway, you seem to be a a big Torment fan, so I wouldn't even try to convince you! :lolQuote:

What I really like, are the classical Console-Style or Tactical RPGs and strategies with RPG elements, like the Disciples and HoMM series. I've played Torment and I liked it, but Torment was "eliminated" from my gaming list by FFVIII...Quote:

Skinner8, couldn't be done something with this very annoying post-confirmation bug? It's happening for the "n"th time! Clicking on the "Submit Reply" button, instead of the refreshment of the page with the new message displayed, I get the error page: "The page cannot be displayed". In fact, the message is posted, but is not confirmed. It does not count, nor in my number of posts or in the number of the thread reaplies, and is not displayed as newest reply. And it's happening for many people, and ONLY on THIS forum. Never seen anywhere a such problem!
Gleh, Skinner is right. PS:T (which is as good as he says) is much more walk-around-and-talk-to-people-over-and-over than for example Diablo. There not really that much fighting....at all :/
Many-As-One > All.
Yeah, people have been getting this problem... MasJ is a bit short of time at the moment, and will be for some time forward, so CCDART is pretty much your best bet. Pester him about it and he might fix it. That'd be rad.Quote:
