I've recently learned that it's possible to play Genesis games on the Dreamcast. (special thanks to Sprung for helping my mom get into Dreamcast with a 450Genesis games iso usable on the DC) However, now that I know it's possible, I was wondering; Does anyone here have any idea how I could create my own iso with my own Genesis games for use on the Dreamcast? My mom now has her own cd with genesis games on it for use with the Dreamcast, but I'd like to make my own, if possible. I seriously doubt it's as easy as just downloading genesis roms and burning them to a blank CD, since I doubt something like that would run on the Dreamcast from out of nowhere, so.. does anyone know how to go about doing it? Depends what was the emu used there are more than one and that also includes various hacks of the Sega Smash Pack Vol.1
Sega Smash Pack Vol.1 hacks with show a screen after you pick a game with:-
Start Game
Resume Game
Controls
Save Game
Show Credits
Return to Menu
There is also SNES NES Mastersystem GameGear and tons of others for the DC that work rather well aswell, and I made my own compilations for all of those
Megadrive/Genesis I'm yet to fully mess with, but I'll have a play later, but first I need to know what emu you are wanting.
Edit:- Yayness I managed to make my own compilation with the Sega Smash Pack Vol.1 hack aswell now :D
I'll go into details if thats the one you want but now I'm off to bed, I'll be doing some full compilations with every game I have, tomorrow aswell.
Hm.. well, I wasn't aware that I needed to use an emu, but I guess Gens, since that's the best genesis emulator that I currently have. Anyhoo, is making your own compilation really difficult? It sounds like it would be

Gens is an emu for the PC not for the Dreamcast

I'm afraid I don't know of any Genesis emu that can be used on the Dreamcast. I've never even heard of such a thing. Yet another reason why I couldn't figure out how to do this, obviously -.-;

Yes, I did. And I burned that to a CD, popped it into my Dreamcast, and started playing. What I'd like to know is how to make my own iso with my own games,(For example, make an iso with all the Genesis Sonic games and my favorite RPGs) with which I can then burn to a CD and play on my Dreamcast
Could you atleast describe how the menu's work n stuff or text info in the menu so I can atleast figure out what one it is for myself, this is important to the way you make your self boot genesis collection as diff emu's need to done in diff ways
I could just give a single way out of making a CD now but you could end up making none working CD after none working CD because the info I gave is not for that emu
Well, I'm not quite sure what you mean.. but I'll try. Let's see here... Well, when you boot up the CD, a list thingy comes up. You can highlight any one of them by scrolling up or down. The list is:
OGDTEX.PVR
1ST_READ.BIN
GINRESET.BIN
GINSU.INI
GINXFER.BIN
IP.BIN
MAIN.DAT
MANIFEST.BIN
MDE_US.BIN
ROM/
TITLE.DAT
That's it. I highlight and select ROM/ to bring up a list of games, in the same format as the previous list. I select a game, and press start to boot it up. I don't know exacally what you want to know, so I'll be happy to describe other stuff if you need to know it.

I don't know how to "drag and drop" them into something without having the actual files. OR do I just copy and paste the text?

put the CD in your CD drive of your PC and open your CD drive from My Computer then double click the CD drive icon then left click and hold the button down on a file then drag the cursor to cdgenPS2 and to the right hand side of the cdgenPS2 window and let go of the button.
Alrighty. I've done absolutely everything you've said so far (as far as I know) and then, to end it, I went into imagen.iso to image.cdi, and clicked on both bintoboot and imagen.iso to image.cdi, (since I didn't know which one to click) but nothing happened. No file was created or anything.
Are you sure you followed the guide as you didn't know to run imagen.iso to image.cdi
also did you save to the same folder as the tools when you created the iso if you created it, if you didn't it wont work, but thats common sence
Can anyone help me with this? I want to download some albums I really like a lot, but kazaa doesnt seem to work right these days because you sometimes cant find what youre looking for, or its too slow, or the song is corrupted. Its a pain in the ass to get some songs there. So I was wondering if there is a better to do music downloading? Im on 56K though I can use faster connections at my univerdity. Anyone care to help?

Yes, I'm possitive I followed your guide exacally. When I ran imagen.iso to image.cdi, a small black window comes up with words on it, then a split second later it disappears. That's it. Nothing else happens. It goes way to fast to see what it says, thoughQuote:

Posibilities
01. You didn't save at all with cdgenPS2
02. You saved in the wrong format in cdgenPS2
03. You saved to a different path in cdgenPS2
04. you changed the file name when saving in cdgenPS2

I'm pretty sure I did everything right. When I click on imagen.iso to image.cdi it doesn't give me an option to save or anything. A small black window just pops up for a split second then closes. I've already saved in the cdgenPS2, and I've followed your instructions to the letter, as far as I know.Quote:

then you made an error with cdgenPS2 and created an empty image did cdgenPS2 even show any of the files you draged n droped to it?

Nope. I honestly have no idea what's wrong, since everything you've explained, I've done. Hm.. actually, I think I'll redo the whole thing from from scratch and see if it works this time. I'll fill you in on how it went as soon as I can
I hooked up my PS2 for the first time in 1 1/2 months, and i put a game in to play it(of course), and at the memory card screen, it starts to read the disc and then just stops and sits there, it doesnt show a CD, and doesnt go to the Please insert game disc. So i went out and baught Katamari Damacy to see if it was just the game that didnt work, but it did it for this game as well. Any help on why it doesnt work.
If the thing is past guarentee I would take the thing apart and see if the Laser is still connected, but if it's still under garentee phone sony up and ask them to repair it for you, if you don't have a mod chip installed.
You may still be able to send it to sony for a small charge if it doesn't have a mod chip in it, I have no idea how much they would charge for such a thing though.
Other things you can do before hand though are just the normal things like run a CD lens cleaner through a few times.
Listen for the CD/DVD spinning in it if you can't hear anything it does sound like the laser had died or has disconected either way you need to open her up and check the laser unit, if needs be buy a new one or just buy another PS2, ask for a new one for Christmas :)

never run at 100%,it's alway 70-80% so the game is slow and the music too so anyone knows why?(It does that with all the games)
Yeah sounds like your PC just isn't good enough for GBA emulation you would be suprised at how much it actully uses
There are tricks though to atempt to improve the speed in VBA like in the options drop down
frame skip - tick auto
frame skip -> Throttle - set to 100%
video -> Render Method - (Just have a play they all run over 100% easy for me so I don't remember what is the best out of those for lower end PC's/Video Chip sets)
