Well...I would say try using alcohol(the medical kind) on q-tips or a clean cloth, then wiping not the title side, but the laser lens side, then dry it. Good luck:nod:
i use windex like hell then make an iso then thrash the orginal as much as i want.
there are places that have disc fixing machines. In a local video store there is one, just look around for one. If its a game then a more "evil" way would be to rent the same title and swap your disc with theirs, just dont get caught!
Resurface it. No clue where to find the machines but now you have a name to go by.
The machines cost more then the game itself. It is best to use Alcohol. Rub it from the center out carefully. Let it fully dry then make an ISO using Alcohol 120% at 1x speed.
And how pray tell, does rubbing alcohol magically fix disc scratches?
But anyway, yeah, making a copy may be the best solution, but your systems aren't mod chipped, it won't do you any good.
If none of that works, find a downloadable ISO of it ;)
Alcohol doesn't fix the scratches. It just cleans the surface better then water. This makes the surface a little easier to read. Then you can make an ISO of it easier.
But, we don't know if disc copies are an option yet.
Best bet is to either buy yourself a Game Doctor (or whatever name they go by, it's a small disc resurfacer), or see if your local video rental shop can resurface discs for you.
Disc Doctor works woners, but its pretty expensive.
really? my Game doctor always used to fuck the discs up more :|
if you get it, get the automatic one, not the crank one.
yah i have had some trouble with the crank ones but the local game store here has one of those realy nice 2000 dollar scratch repair machines and they will fix it for free :D they limit you though like 1-2 a week :( lol
I need to find a place like that and slowly fix all my case-less PSX games
Yah only bad thing about this place is they wont fix cd-rs or pc games :(
meh, I can live without that I guess, I don't have too many PC games, and anything I have on CD-R is likely somewhere on my PC.
I thought you weren't supposed to clean CD's with alcohol...
Yeah, a Game Doctor or whatever should fix it unless the actual fabric(on the opposite side of the CD label) is fucked up. The machines were about 30 or 40 bucks the last time I checked(over a year ago). Get a friend who has it to do it for you or ask at a rental shop as Gospel suggested.
I've always used alchohol for cleaning mine, I thought it was water and soap that was the no-no.
soap is a "No-no" water on the other hand may not be... depending on if your talking Distiled or Tap water... Distiled water should not cause any problems that i can think of. Tap water on the other hand.... it has some stuff in it that might not be the best for your games.Quote:

well anyways, alchohol is fine to use which was my original point.
thanks form all the advice guys.
by the way, this is a PC game that I'm talking about. There seemed to be a little confusion about that.
That should not make a diffrence.Quote:

Except for the places that wouldn't resurface PC games...
Ok so that's the only diffrence... you just have to find some place that will.Quote:

Yeah, it doesn't really matter, I was just saying...
i've got an idea.... look after your games better, always put them back in its case after using it etc, then a problem like this wouldnt occur.
But just look around rental stores which lets you fix PC games.
I've used tap water and soap with no problems before  I needed to seeing as I poured oil all over it to remove some oil based marker... Some crackhead thought black permenent marker would fix up black discs, I cleaned it all off and it worked ok. Just make sure you dry it when you're done.Quote:

Also make sure when drying your game to wipe from the center out and not around in a circle.
