Tbh i've kinda lost interest in the project but i'm aware i need to do afew things.
Furthermore i will keep this thread up to date to the best of my ability.
But any future riki releases will have to be sourced from the community.
Thanks again to epForums for hosting this thread

Im biting the bullet and buying the magazine. I hear conflicting reports on whether it includes the .nes rom file. Ill report back when it arrives.

So the magazine just came in the mail.
Its a pretty neat little product.
It comes with the nes and soundtrack on a CD and even has a custom emulator to run the rom
I'll be buying the other two in the series next pay so stay tuned.

Nice share
thanks
P.S. I coded your link to fall with in our forum rules, it will help prevent it from being removed also
Nice that it comes with a pre emulated copy as well as the rom on it's own

My group will be releasing an album on Sega Genesis this summer. I'm sure the rom will find it's way into the web somehow.
Keep an eye out: YM2017 ;)

thats sick bro!
I've looked into the code and injecting famitracker songs into a nes rom. But im only new to rolling your own roms. Not at all what i'm trained in. but if i had infinite time id make something.

Kira Kira Star Night DX
As promised here is the 2nd entry in the riki 8bmp trilogy.
Kira Kira Star Night DX
This time we get allot of bonus material such as videos and a dump of development roms
The final rom of dx however is conspicuously absent, only to be found in executable form and not as a rom.
The dev builds will have to surface if you want to run them on hardware.
Maybe someone who knows more about assembly can extract the roms.
Tho as far as i can tell the only real difference seems to be the animated intro.
Maybe if you want the full rom rip the famicom cart yourself sorry.
Anyway enjoy
And sorry riki . I only do this as the music is too good.
The third entry 8bit music power final hasn't released in this format yet someone with deeper pockets could pickup the cartridge and rip it.
else we'll have to wait

Thank you kindly for the share! Wish the original soundtrack was included with the DX version but, oh well...
Was hoping to get the Toromi song. It was included in Game Music Prayer III though, and also on 8BIT Kirakira Star Night DX - RIKI Collection -. Hope I'll get it eventually.

Thanks for the thanks guys.
So an Update. I've decided to try my hand at ripping 8bit music power final. I may be crazy but in the spirit of the interweb ive droped about 50 bucks on the cart and a further 48 on a kazzo ripper (in my native $$ i mean) so stay tuned if all gos according to plan you can expect this endeavour to be finished by the start of sept
Its kinda been bugging me that we don't have the trilogy dumped. call it ocd i dunno.
Again if you love these roms consider suporting riki by buying a soundtrack magazine or other merch on amazon their cool collectors pieces trust me.
Edit:: the cartridge arrived today. Love the short shipping times between here and amazon japan Attachment 53137
So good news bad news.
Tha kazzo ripper came. and i got it to work after some coaxing. and a verry involved driver and firmware update bs.
I tested and got my copy of dr.mario to work just fine Attachment 53188
However the rom im getting for 8bmpF is a grey screen of death. I assume its mmc3. however opening the cart it doesnt even have a memory mapper chip.
Does anyone know what could be wrong.
Im willing to order another cart if i fried it. but well have to wait another week or so for that
if you can help id be thankfull
sorry guys
I'm going to test it out and let you know. I'll also see if somebody got the Final 8 Bit Music game ripped too.
EDIT: It works great! Just got to level 8 on my first try. It's got a few other versions in there I haven't compared it to. I found another link with 8 bit music power, but I don't think it's the final version. If it is and it works I'll post that link too.
EDIT 2: Oops. Didn't post the link right before. Should be good now. No luck on 8 bit music power final yet. The link had some more promo stuff, but not the game.

Nice firedrop these do in fact seem like the final roms. thanks for the share.
Update
So im debugging my ripping process.
I have two strategies im looking at
First is to get a nes to famicom adapter then rip the game as a nes game
Second is to get my hands on a second copy if things are actually that bad.
Im happy if anyone finds the roms for them to link this is just so people can get their hands on roms afterall
Sorry if this thread is outa hand lol

No problem man. Glad I could help. I found this thread about 30 minutes before I hunted down that link on some 4-chan site or something. If you're looking for a laugh, I suggest you find the thread I'm talking about. A lot of funny trolling comments back and forth on there that can't be repeated here. :)
Somebody there says they're going to put out the roms for 8bmp final "when the magazine comes out". Not sure exactly when that's going to be. The link I posted here were from the EXE files. Somebody knew enough about the code to strip the roms out of the executables, which was pretty sweet of them to share.
I won't suggest to you that you wait on it and save the money, but it's up to you. Even if that guy makes good on his promise to release it in the future you're learning some new stuff. I'll be keeping tabs on that situation and if I see the link posted I'll be sure to put it up here for everybody as soon as I get it.
Thanks neko i was wondering how it was done.
Never underestimate the resilience of the pirate guild
Its sick that someone made a custom script for it.
Firedrop already linked the ripped roms.
Update::
So i have a nes to famicom cartridge adaptor now so i could test the cartridge turns out i did wipe it accidentally when setting up the ripper.
A new cartridge is in the mail

OOPS!
Hey... no chance you're getting a cart for 8BMP Final since you're going to be ripping carts, are you? I noticed that thread I was talking about has been dead since the middle of May and I have no idea if the magazine that was going to have the EXE file in it has even come out yet. Would love to get my hands on that rom.

Thanks so much for dedication to share these gems with us. Nice that it doesn't use any complicated mappers too. I've registered here because of Your post :) thanks!
EDIT - PlayAsia states: Please note that this product is not licensed by Nintendo and may not run on Famicom, New Famicom and Twin Famicom consoles. It is advised to use the cartridge on an emulation-based console, such as the Retro Freak.
This is about 8BMPF. Is it working with famicom though? I've bought one for my famicom and I'm not sure if it'll even boot ;_;

So having had the cart for a week now i can say its a stubborn beast at the best.
It seems the chips on the board are 3.3 v while nes runs at 5v
My ripper also runs at 5v. and the only time ive gotten a rip to run it just garbles i must have tried about 20 times to rip it and only got ppu data once and it was garbled
Also this causes massive problems with the game completely crashing before i can listen to the whole soundtrack
Honestly it seems like trying to rip the cartridge is a fools errand.
A cd has just been announced for october 26th
I could do a hack with a resister and some soldering.
But their still a chance it wont work.
Already bought the cartridge, listened to it all without crashing. I can't seem to open it, do You have photos of PCB? I'd greatly appreciate that I really need em. Thanks in advance.

I may try the resister hack i made a mistake and its the cd not the magazine coming out sorry
Im kinda scared to run it again tbh
Also i have the dead cart opened so Here you go Attachment 53700 Attachment 53701

Thanks a lot!
I just use the classic Famicom. No buffers made me wary of this cartridge though... Pure 5V for 3.3V chips can't be too good... Attachment 53699
It was too hard for me to open without damaging the plasticv anyway so thank You.

damn it appears my newer cart is dead now too.
This is the final nail sorry guys
lets hope the magazine gets announced soon.
Why couldnt they just use 5v eproms :ahhh:
EDIT:: NVM its working again. these things are so finicky i swear

I can rip the music but it won't be of BEST OF THE BEST quality as it'll be from capture card I dunno if there is a demand though.
20th-September-2017, 21:43

I think it would be best to wait for the cd.
I got the cart to work again false alarm lol soz.
Im going to read into the wire resister hack

That's a bummer man. I hope you don't break anything else. Thanks for all of the effort.
I didn't know when the CD was coming out. Back in May the guy who ripped KKSDX said that he would rip the rom for 8BMP Final "when the magazine came out", but that thread has been dead since about the end of May. I guess that's because it hadn't come out yet.
I'll keep an eye on that thread and see if there is any action over there after the CD is released, and if a link is posted I'll be sure to put it up here if you haven't figured it out by then.

i have the cd for kira kira star night sitting here. i'm hesitant to link them tho. I feel like riki would punch me in the face if i do PM me if you absolutely must have the files
And thanks epforums for putting up with this thread

Hehe... Nah. I already found a link to the ISO for that. Didn't do any good since it didn't have the rom for DX. Somebody on that other forum was able to hack the EXE file for the game though and rip the playable NES rom from it.
He said he'd do the same for 8BMP Final when he gets the magazine. Maybe he meant the CD. I dunno.
Like I said, I'll post the link here for the rom if he rips it and you haven't had any success yet.

Cheers!! pm firedrop instead then
lol jk
It should be fine to post the links here i think. but i dont think we should give out the cd contents here.
This is more for the roms to make them easier to find
Besides the chiptune scene in japan worked hard on the compositions.
Ill still get the new cd tho
21st-September-2017, 08:34

Yeah. It would be cool to have the other rom at some point. There's a ton of extra stuff on those CDs that I'm personally not interested in, but hard core fans of the project would like it I'm sure. They obviously put a lot of effort into it.

Please keep us updated if you ever get the rom for 8bit music power final. One of the few things I'm still looking for. I'll probably be back around the beginning of November to see if anybody has linked a working rom by then.

Not sure about how the link "should" be, but the link works. Try right clicking it and opening it instead of copying the link.
