I want to know what people think were the best days in the Final Fantasy series. Please explain why.
I would say the PSX days because my two favorite, IX and Tactics were during that period.

I'd say from the NES to present. There still isn't one game that I haven't liked yet. Though, I never played FFXI yet.
I would say the Psx days because most of the snes FF's are out for the psx too :P
I have choosen the PSX days, but snes days is also fun to :).
I chose the PSX days. That is because my favorite one FF8 is on it. I also like some of the SNES ones that were for it like FF4. I like that one second.
SNES days all the way, Final Fantasy 6 forever!
then would come NES days, then would come PS2 days, just avoid the days that contained final fantasy 7 :P
I don't see why Final Fantasy VII was so great. I liked IX so much better.Quote:

I don't see why so many people like IX so much :P It is average IMO.
I don't see why VII seven is considered even okay, little lone why so many people think it's the greatest.Quote:

although i didn't like IX either, I didn't like any of the PS era really...
Did you ever play tactics?
That has to be played in japanese, since the great story was lost during translation :P Still, the gameplay is excellent if you like tactical games.
Yeah, I love those games, Tactics ownz
I don't see why ppl like 7 and 9 since 8 is the best IMO.
I don't see what is great about the PSX days. Of all those games I played they were mediocre at best.
To be honest FFVI is the only game in the series I think is very good.
So I obviously voted the SNES era.
I don't see why people like 8 if 7 & 9 were best IMO... :wacko:Quote:

FFVII is a pretty damn cool game and I played it waaay after it came out (played FFIX BEFORE it...), and even then, with the crappy graphics and sound, I liked it! :O!
If you don't like Cloud, that's one thing, if you think the setting doesn't fit FF, that's another, if you think the series became too mainstream from there on (like me), that's an ENTIRELY different thing, but at the end, you can't deny it's a good game...
I'd like to quote something from karragh's sig now...
"Everything karragh said was a pile of poo!" :O!
FFIX is nothing great nor new to the series on PSX, but it's also a very enjoyable, very fun game...
How would someone consider FFVIII (the crappiest, sloppiest, easiest, most tedious FF game ever made) to be superior to FFVII OR FFIX...?!?
There's gotta be something in that game that makes you relate to it so much, knowitman, 'cause... Well... It's the worst FF game ever made! It's an OK game by its own, but compared to the rest of the series, it's the worst! X(
Oh! And to answer the poll question, er... It's a tie between the SNES and PSX days... :)
I thought FFVIII was nicely done, I have no affinity to it either. It really doesn't seem much different than any other FFs, and the final series of battles are not very easy if you played casually ;)
PSX days. :) even though I love FFX.
I rented it for about a week and made it to almost the end of Disc 3 (where some guys take Rinoa away)... I got annoyed by it, so I never finished it... :PQuote:

I started playing it a while ago on ePSXe and got to Level 100 prior to finishing Disc 1 and a whole bunch of the available spells (about 80%?)... That's how much the game's system sucks... XD
Like I said, it's an OK game by itself, it has some serious flaws, though... So compared to the rest of the FF games, it's among the worst... :S
:damn: ?Quote:

Haha! Yeah! I didn't have the Disc 2 ISO, and I read you could get up to Level 100 even on Disc 1, so I said: "WTH, I've got nothing better to do...!" and went on beating Visages, Lefties, Righties, Wendigos (hate those bastards... >_< ), etc. 'til I got to 100...
But prior to doing that, I had about Level 60, which is still pretty high for Disc 1... >_<
lol, hmmm. Did everyone else level easily in VIII? I didn't have any problems but I didn't realize it could be done so quickly. How many hours had you played once you reached lvl 100 vagrant?
I dunno, but I always take my time when exploring towns and stuff... If a review says you can finish it in 60 hours, I usually take 100, or so...
I think it was something between 30 and 40... Not quite sure, though... Oh! And I leveled ALL characters up to 100... :P
And according to the spell list in the game's Help menu, I got almost all of 'em (sucks you can't carry them all), I was just missing the most powerful ones, not available in Disc 1... :)
The SNES days. Final Fantasy IV and VI ... And without the loading times found in the PSX versions
I hear it is also possible to get the Lionhart in disk 1 if you play your cards right.
Heh, I dunno about that... Is that sarcasm...? :PQuote:

it damn well better be. you need the 1st 'weapons monthly' magazine to get it, and you dont find that until waay late
BTW, I know this is off topic, but: What's the deal with that UFO you encounter alongside the beach near Timber...? (FFVIII)
I haven't played any final fantasy games in a while but I think I liked 6 and 7 the best.
The nes FF were too hard, it took to long to level up and the battles where too long.
FF 6 = cool story, lots of cool spells and summons, I like how one of your characters could learn enemy attacks.
FF 7 = I like the materia system, story, again I like how you can learn enemy attacks, kind of don't like the prerendered graphics but they are ok
FF 8 = I like how the summons can level up and learn spells, but I hate how you can't, I mean I don't like having to go somewhere to draw the magic I would rather just have learned it and get my mp refilled. you can have 99 of each spell but I would still rather learn it.
FF 9 = nice graphics, I think a good story I don't really remeber the storys to most FF that well, its been to long. I don't like how most the time it won't show the summons when you use them and it just shows their magic attack which looks like a regular magic spell instead of a summon.
FF 10 = it was pretty good, nice graphics since on ps2 :), it had a lot of annoying things in it though. I hated that it didn't have a world map like other FF's, the sphere system got annoying after a while, Wakka was annoying how he would always say Yu Yevon this Yu Yevon that, but what about Yu Yevon's teachings etc. it got really annyoing and Yuna was kind of annoying how she was way too nice, I didn't like how you got the summons either. I would rather fight or find them in secret places after battling bosses or something instead of going through some puzzle then Yuna already being there and just praying and getting the summon. The final boss sucked and I knew Yu Yevon was going to be the final boss when everyone was always talking about him and how great he was(since they wanted to make it someone you wouldn't expect.) The summons sure was cool though. :D
I don't remeber everything about the FF's but this is what I remeber. I usually remeber the bad more. I have to admit I did get addicted to all the Final Fantasys that I have played though. I just got annoyed on some things.
O yea and to anwser the actual question I guess PSX but I haven't played the snes ones much, I lost my FF 6 save :( and didn't start back over yet.
The UFO is part of a sidequest, I think there are 3(?) it's been a while so I don't remember totally, I am sure knowitman could fill you in better ;)
I only really liked #1, so I go with the NES days. Everything else was too complicated after that, it lost my attention when you have to think about it too much. I don't like thinking in a game; I just like pure instinct where what it really comes down to is the level of skill you have at the game, not at balancing and junctioning and selecting attacks.
Ahaha! Like knowing when to run when you get in a battle with 50 Ghouls and they all put you to sleep...?!?Quote:

XD!! Yep... Those were the good ol' days... FF gave me a migraine...
i say PSX days maily because it includes ff7 i dont like the other 2 much. but i love 7.
Final Fantasy 1 :ugh: I like it, but WHOO! the battles took forever in the NES version. I will admit it was awesome at the time, great music
I have yet to see what is so great about FF. I bought it some time ago, and thought it was a decent play for a NES game. However I don't really see how it could hold a candle to the Dragon Warrior series.
It couldn't, it gained popularity, yeah, but Dragon Quest has always kicked its ass in terms of sales/preference over at Japan...
American gamers just didn't like the series much because they suck... -_-
I havent played the PS2 games, but otherwise, the PSX, because thats when i first got my eyes up for FF games :)
Stupid American gamers....forcing us to wait years for someone to be kind enough to translate 5 and 6 so we could play them over here.Quote:

i chose the psx era
the snes FF's i never really could get into, especially the ones before 6 (3) because the graphics just annoyed me too much to keep me hooked.
ff7 was a solid game all around. the way it was done was awesome. really great story line, good music, good characters, a bad aa villian which kept a lot of gamers hooked. i really liked the technology addition to it rather than it being more of a fantasy game.
ff8 is my favorite out of all of them. the story line was the best, very well told. the character development was awesome too. granted the level up system was a little iffy, it's still fun. the music is what keeps me going back for it though. i love the opera music in it, and they are added at the right parts.
ff9 was boring at first, but then i got used to it. it's more of a fun game than a serious rpg. the story wasn't very good unfortunately. when i found out what zidane was and where he came from, that came out of left field for me. there was nothing that lead up to that moment which weakened it a bit. but the battle system was good, the graphics were good, and the scripts were good too
ff10 was a really good game also. great music and graphics. the characters were pretty solid too. the story gets boring for a while, but when you find out about yevon and such, then it gets a lot better. the battle system was definately a plus. though it did make the game a little too easy. i didn't like the whole sphere grid thing either, i prefer standard leveling up.
ff10-2 shouldn't be called a final fantasy. the only reason it has the FF name because it's a continuation of ff10. i've never beaten the game and don't plan on it. this was an okay game. definately could have been way better. but it was decent, it's good if you're sick of the standard rpg.
ff11 it looks neat and would like to try it but i would never get it.
ff12 look awesome! can't wait!
and yes you can get the lionheart in disc one. there are a couple guides on gamefaqs about it.
psx days, ffvii and ff tactics are probably my two favorite ff games.
i personally think that ff2, ff4, ff6, ff8 are the best final fantasy games ever made. that's one for nes, two for snes, one for psx, and none for ps2. SOOOO, i voted the snes days.
