Complete newbie here ...
Hey
I've not tried emulation software before so I am a complete novice to all this ...
I was wondering if there was a basic "HOW TO..." guide anywhere on the site.
I actually stumbled in here when I googled "Leander", the old Psygnosis Amiga game and would love to be able to play it again but wouldn't have a clue where to start. I had a look for one but there was no "Beginners start here" link or anything ..
Please don't shoot me down in flames if I've annoyed anyone by posting this - kindly redirect me if I'm in the wrong place ! :D
Thanks

Yeah, that's the badger :D
I downloaded it along with both emulators.
The first one I tried (winfellow) left me needing a kickimage or something and the second one (UAE) is so complicated I don't know where to begin :(
I know you guys must be bored silly with people like me, but try to remember what it was like back when you started out with all this.
I DID find the "how to" page when I browsed the Leander section a bit more deeply, and it makes it sound like a piece of cake, but without the kickimage or a clue how to run UAE I really don't know what to do ...

Thats as far as i can help:
Amiga Emulators for Windows
Winfellow [Build 3]
Download: winfellow_alpha_v0.4.4_build_3-965.zip
Size: 303.76K
Version: Build 3
Homepage URL: http://fellow.sourceforge.net/
WinUAE [2.0.1]
Download: WinUAE2100-1648.zip
Size: 0K
Version: 2.0.1
Homepage URL: http://www.winuae.net/
Have a look at those, or you can wait for someone with more XP.
I looked in the Game system area:
http://www.epforums.org/forumdisplay...c-amp-PC-Games
I didnt see anything in the stickys thou.
You can have a flick through or use the search, someone might have the same question as you.

WinUAE have a quickstart option, wrote for newbie...
1) Download and install WinUAE
2) Search the web for Amiga Kickstart Roms (for leander the 1.3 version, for AGA games 2.0 or greater)
3) Run winuae and select paths, set the path (or browse) to your kickstart roms dir (decompress the kickstart), then press the "rescan roms" button
4) Read the message, it tells what kind of amiga you can emulate.
5) If the emu won't detect your kickstart you can force the emulator change: hardware/rom/main rom file or download another kickstart version (not all kickstarts are good dumps)
6) Go on Quickstart, on model you can select one amiga model (try the A500 first).
7) Press "Select image file", and load your Leader disk. Press Start, ...game load (wait 1 minute or less)..., Play!
8) If the game won't load select another amiga model and retry
You can decrease the loading time changing hardware/floppy drives/floppy drivers speed. Use more floppy drivers (options disabled when you use the quickstart).
