It's a version 5/6 fat PS2 if that helps at all. I'm fine with anything but installing modchips.

Swap magic? T_T
Swap Magic sounds good, but don't I need something else with it to work? For the slim PS2, I needed Magic Keys.
A fliptop cover and Swap magic would be a good choice. Be careful with the fliptop cover as it deppends on your PS2 version.

Hm, I read 'slim' and assumed he had a slim PS2.
I don't see what's wrong with using a home-made slide tool + SM
It's a hassle and risky, you can damage your console. Installing a fliptop cover is safe when done carefully and will make the swaps easier.
This is the one that I got in mine.

I would still recommend you to get a modchip installed in your PS2. They are very cheap right now and getting a professional installer do it for you shouldn't cost you much. That way you don't have to swap discs every time you wanna play a game, and that way you can also install a harddrive in your PS2 and boot up HDloader and play all your games through the HDD :) Just download the ISO, and directly install it onto your PS2's HDD. If you like the game, keep it. If you don't, then delete it ;)
Thats what I do. Right now, I got like at least 40+ PS2 games in my 160 GB harddrive :D
This isn't for me, by the way. I have Magic Keys+SM on my slim PS2. This is for an 11 year old kid, so I'd rather use something of relative ease for him.
How does a flip top work anyways? Also, are slide cards any good? It seems like I've read slide cards ruined systems after some time, but how do they work too?
an 11 yo couldn't handle a slide, maybe not even a flip top, i'd say chip him.
