There it is, people. The Revolution controller is there in all it's glory. So what do you think about it? I can't help but feel let down, and not because I set my personal expectations high.

Haven't read about it yet, but here's another article from 1up.

I have to admit that I didn't read the supliments to Gamespots news article before I posted it. I have now, and after reading about some of the demos, the thing actually looks kinda cool.Quote:

I just have one question, how the hell will you play old games with that one? Surely they must be selling optional controllers that will work with games from past eras? I can't imagine playing, say Mario 64 with such a controller. :P
Still, it looks cool. But revolutionary? I dunno. Guess we have to wait and see.
Yeah, apparently there's the option for add on controller thingy's that'll allow you to play old games. Like...a Nintendo 64 add on, or a SNES add on. The stock controller lends itself well to NES games, but beyond that...no.
Dude, I'm thinkin' that Nintendo is out to farm cash here. They've already stated that the classics will cost us, and now they're gonna make us pay for controller add ons to play 'em. @_@
I've read two or three articles now. The one you mentioned Cyber, as well as the one it linked to at Gamespot Hardware. Also read the 1up.com one. Yes, I've been waiting to hear about this revolutionary controller :P.
I find that it is indeed revolutionary, same as the DS is. In a way, they've taken the DS model (where we slash on the touch screen) into your living room by making it an actual slash. Kudos on that achievment. The technology itself is what I find very revolutionary. Now it's still going to be a while until we see the apps that are developed for this new technology however it does sound very promising. I mean to point and shoot in an FPS, say UT2104 (: and getting a headshot or shooting with a sniper rifle while actually doing it sounds ... awesome! I mean, in a way, instead of going for graphical realism, they went for ... actual realism! In your face Sony and Microsoft!
Yeah...
This is strange. Really strange. Really makes me wonder how they will be fairing against Sony and Microsoft, next gen.
Also, we're going to have really cool star wars games now where we actually swing the light saber.. W00T!! Btw, saw that on the IGN Video.
EDIT: It's here btw: http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651334p1.html
EDIT2: Some example of potential applications, an excellent post at slashdot.

Remember, Nintendo hasn't exactly been a bastion for third-party games for the last couple of generations. They're gonna have to do alot to show third-parties that thier innovations are gonna sell systems and be worth getting behind. Hopefully they have it in 'em. This Revo controller just might have potential. :)
Fuck Star Wars. Gimmie a Kenshin Dragon Quest port and I WILL buy this thing :D Of course I don't think many people thought Kenshin Dragon Quest was cool :lolQuote:

Well I've just read those articles and I like it, its refreshing and innovative for sure.. its one of those things that you'd like to have in your hands :P
I'll have to show it to my mom and ask her if shes scared of it :lol

Well, I'm shit out of luck. See, when I'm gaming, I turn to stone. No body movement outside of eyes, mouth, and fingers. That means, games that require me to actually... DO something, will invariably cause me to look like some random noob character and get owned at everything.
I'll say this once--Damn you Nintendo.
There is no possible way for me to praise or criticise this until I actually play with one. Interesting, nonetheless.
First person shooters might require skill now, yay
