Decent spyware removal thing?

My computer has recently been plagued with Spyware, and Spybot just isn't cutting it. Can anyone recommend something better?

just a q, but do you run Spybot in Safe mode. I always do that, I don't know why, but I think it works better for some bizzare reason, failing that, try Spywareblaster, thats the other piece of software I have.

Yes, Spybot S&D works great in Safe Mode and removes most shit. I also have Ad-Aware SE and both of these pretty much take care of everything :) Also, I have AVG antivirus now, which is working EXCELLENT :evilgrin:

Ad Aware is pretty decent

my suggestion is remove through safemode with no networking through regedit.exe manually, trust yourself you can do it!

I wouldn't suggest telling people to edit their own registry, unless it is obvious that something shouldn't be there.

fdisk! It's perfect. In fact, it takes out all spyware in one fell swoop...it even eliminates the cause of spyware! You should definately give it a try...:wacko:

I recommend Hijack This

Your best combo is:
Ad-Aware
Spybot S&D
Webroot Spy Sweeper
Microsoft Antispyware (if in windows xp)
Use HiJack This! if you're techy, else don't use it because you probably won't know how to use it. :P

Do everything in safe mode if you're badly infected BTW.

For virus, I recommend AVG Antivirus, and if there's one that can't be removed then use Ewido Security Suite. If there's still one that can't be removed, just post it's name here. ;)


lmao@ hayato1, you're maybe removing run keys, but i'm sure you can't find all the infected CLSID's at hand! :wacko:

i have used spybot s&d, ad-ware, and crap cleaner. crap cleaner is nice it removes ALOT of bad stuff, but you have to be careful and check what each entry is BEFORE you delete them.

Ad-Aware & CCleaner is the only i'll ever need and recommend :)

CCleaner only removes useless files, not spyware.
