interesting question

my teacher asked us this question the other day.

A while ago in the united states the postal service went on strike. Most people didnt get mail, and to get it you had to go to the post office and could wait in line for hours and STILL not get your mail. At the same time, hospitals reported a dramatic increase in drug related problems and STD's (sexually transmitted diseases). There is a correlation between all this, what is it?

I have an idea, but I will wait to see if anyone else can come up with anything first....

You are, weird. Correlation, I hope not, and I guess not.

The only correlation I could see between the two, as far as STD's and undelivered mail goes, is that people rely on the mail to get thier medications. When they stopped recieving them, they had no choice but to go to the hospital for help.

Yeah, yeah. The post office workers went loose :P

A possibility, IMO:

People were in large lines, waiting for mail, and 'hooked up' with other people waiting in line. Maybe a cocktail and dinner, maybe a movie, maybe I wake you up for breakfast? :P

I bet Cyber's correlation is what it could really be, but i laughed alot seeing yours Sprung. :P

What do you think the postal workers do when they aren't handing out the mail? Well i guess we now know that they are having unprotected sex with random people.....I guess those crazy postal workers will never understand.

Correlation does not imply Causation.

There is a Correlation between the number of Gamers playing FPS and the number of Sucide Bombings per year.

But that does not mean that a greater number of gamers playing FPS causes more sucide bombings or that a fewer number of gamers playing FPS causes less sucide bombings. Or their inverse.

Or that a greater number of sucide bombing causes more gamers to play FPS or that fewer sucide bombings causes less gamers to play FPS. Or their Inverse.

Though as cyber said the third variable of medications connects the two.

The increase in STD's was due to the lack of medication/protection.
The lack of Medications/protection was due to the strike.
The Strike did not cause the STD's, nor did the STD's cause the strike.

The postman was paying visits to all the best houses in his strike time...

Thats all I can think of...
