On Saturday night, the well-known hacker Mathieu Hervais posted on his Twitter that he had found a way to exploit Sony PlayStation 3 firmware 3.56 although he refuses to release the details, as not to anger Sony.
Says Hervais:
I hesitated a lot before tweeting about it, but a bug allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and 3.56+. I don't intent to ever unveil it.
So much for "unhackable" ps3s though....
The hacker will not unveil the exploit, but says "this wasn't about getting attention at all, or fame, this was just done so the right people know this bug is there for the finding."
Yeah, and on the internet too. We're such a rare breed and all that.
My PS2 is still functioning, my PC is still functioning, and GBA is working fine. Also I can only record PS3 games in SD anyway.
I think I'm being told to do some LPs.
But fuck you universe, I don't play your games.
I'm gonna go wank to some visual novels.
*hdd failure*
NOOOOO
Currently watching Iron Chef America, and desperately craving some bacon at the moment. Oh so much.
Check it out, yo.
Ray, guessing you'd have already done this, but in case not, maybe it'll help?
Seen several reports saying it worked when nothing else (new cable, hard reset, etc.) did :shrug:Quote:
Here is the fix: Unplug your TV and let it think for a little while about how hard it's made your life (I don't know if unplugging the hdmi would make any difference), plug your TV back in (with the hdmi cable already hooked up), voila, your PS3's hdmi is working again. Pretty nifty eh?

:lol
I was watching this too, server won't let me post it >_<

Yeah, about that.
I have a fuckhueg monitor that I game on.
That monitor is also hooked up to my primary PC.
I'm typing on my primary PC right now.
Works fine. I have minor doubts it's something like that, especially when I can flick this switch right here and have my laptop broadcast over here.
There might still be a glimmer of hope.
Well (as I read it, maybe I misunderstood something), the TVs in question worked (in HD as far as watching shows go) as well. It was just the same issue you're having (PS3 wouldn't display HD, but worked in SD). That's why I figured it might work. Certainly couldn't hurt, could it? :P
And other than hard/factory resets, it's the only thing I've turned up. Maybe CM's vid will help though.
