I watched Robin Hood Men In Tights today. You gotta love the classics.
I saw Fantastic Four 2. Better than the first, though that's not saying much. The Silver Surfer was cool, if not really used to the fullest of his potential.
Yeah, he was sort of derived, very loosely, from the Ultimate version of Galactus. And when I say loosely, I mean it. Thing is though, it sort of worked on screen. It might've been cooler for the fans had he been true to the comic, but I couldn't see a giant planet-eating man playing well to audiences not familiar with the source-material. Meh.
Hah! No doubt. They did sort of tease his 616 appearance though, in a silhouette on a planet as he was passing by. It was....something for the fans, I guess.
He's more of a storm-cloud really, but the distinction is academic at best. He's still just a cloud. :P
I do think it worked though, at least for the big-screen. Still, the spectacle of the character alone would've been worth it to see, even if they had to alter his appearance a bit to play down the cheese-factor.
I'm thinking of making a comics thread now. =\ Damn it.
A spoiler warning would have been nice, guys :/
Creepers.. O_O
The Grudge 2 (remake with beffy the vampire slayer) and it sucked.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was in the first Grudge, IIRC.
Anyway, FINALLY got to see 300 last night. Awesome, worth every bit of the hype. The "ZOMG" lines that are now memes are still great even when you know they're coming, and the whole part about fighting in the shade is classic.
SMALL SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
(This is a few minutes after the "Then we'll fight in the shade" line)
*Arrows start coming down, the Spartans turtle up, and block the arrows with their sheilds. Arrows rain for a few seconds, and one soldier starts laughing. The laughter spreads to the rest of the men...*
Captain: What are you fools laughing about?
Random Spartan: Fight in the shade. You just had to say it, didn't you?
(i officially lol'd at this point)
Grindhouse.
Good stuff.
The Street Fighter a.k.a Gekitotsu! Satsujin Ken.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073756/
Not to be confused with the Street Fighter movies which are based on the video game series.
This one was made in '74 and stars Sonny Chiba as a badass karate-using mercenary who maims and kills pretty much everyone who gets in his way.
It's part of a trilogy, although the 2 sequels aren't as good (i.e., not as violent) as the first.
Commando is the shit.
1408 was decently entertaining.
The new Fantastic Four movie. It was meh...
Also, not a movie but just watched Rammstein - Volkerball. Fookin' awesome.
First 30 minutes or so of Withnail and I. Seems like an excellent movie. May have to get the novel as well.
Alone in the Dark. Dear God. I want to kill. Well, actually I didn't watch the whole thing. When some soldiers started shooting like crazy at the monsters, I was like "Okay, fuck it." and turned off the TV.
Mission Impossible 1 & 2.
Pirates 2, yes 2. Too long and tad childish.
Memento. Pure win.
Watching The Departed again. Amazing flick.
The Reaping. Only the last act was good.
Letters From Iwo Jima.Great kinda sad war movie.
The reaping and Sicko
Casino Royale.
The new guy playing Bond did an excellent job.
I have seen 300 and I don't see the big freaking deal.
Pirates 3. Too long again, but better than the 2nd one. I still think the first was the best one.
Ghost Rider. Not bad, not great. Just decent.
The Machinist. Excellent movie. Kinda like Memento on steroids.
I...can stand him, but for other roles, not Johnny Blaze for god sake. Also, I remember he wanted to be Superman or something.
I mean, I liked his para-medic character in some movie...I don't remember the name right now...
Okay, back to topic, saw Children of Men yesterday, dammit, that movie was FREAKING awesome, even when it wasn't an action movie, those "one-take" scenes ruled.
Bringing Out The DeadQuote:
