:eek2:
Had a package arrive today. Decent size, maybe around the same as PS3 boxed but package was a little lighter than that.
Purchased this 4 days ago (on a Sunday) and it travelled over 2700km from the west side of the country way over to the east side where I am :doink:
I didn't pay extra for express postage. Nope, not courier service. Just standard auspost parcel with tracking.
nice. wish our shipping services were that good again.
Well it's not usually that fast here.
I didn't ask but I guess the seller went straight to the PO early Monday morning and it shipped out that day via air, straight to Melbourne.
Then sorted and sent to nearby city sorting centre, takes another day to get to me after that.
So yeah, lightning fast... I'm blown away by it :lol
Think the seller paid around $15aud postage for that box.
Packages not going around in circles or getting abused would be good enough to make me happy .
I thought your population was well over 300 million?
We're only about 25 million.
It should really only go through 2 sorting centres in your state.
The main one (usually at state capital) and then the nearest city to you with a sorting centre for the surrounding region.
Anything beyond that is just a disorganised mess and most probably just wasting money. Maybe that's why your costs are higher?
Recent episode of Halo was pretty good :)
Think about higher fuel costs (more expensive here) and large empty spaces to move packages around with a smaller amount of people paying for services.
Yeah there isn't much cost involved moving a package around inside one state capital, but moving from one state to another is costly.
Most stuff I get isn't in my immediate locale, in fact way more then half would be interstate.
The only major cities we have are the state capitals.
They reorganised sorting here a few years back too.
It can be kinda dumb sometimes since a package sent from rural in my state goes to Melbourne first before coming to the city close to me, even if the sender's location is actually closer to me than Melbourne.
But I understand why they did it. It's cost cutting and improves efficiency of processing.
Some package arrival times can be longer compared to the old days as a result, but moving stuff all around the country is generally better overall.
Prices went up a tiny bit I think start of this year. They also automated detection of underpaid postage in sorting centres.
You can still send a DVD case (game or movie) by using letter post here for less than $3aud, as long as it's only 1 disc and under a certain weight. Also thickness (can't remember what that is now). Then it bumps up to around $3.50 or something. Both of those are untracked.
The lowest amount... can't remember what it is now, but I think it's for letter under 5mm. It's less than $2aud (close to $1 iirc). People use that for sending like game manual only, or a couple of slim manuals.
The minimum for first class is around $3.xx now or something like that. About 10 years ago it was under $2. I'm not sure on the cost of letter mail but I think it's over $1 now.
I used to be able to roll shipping into the cost when selling for most items but now it's gotten too expensive.
Yeah some people here just have free postage for some items. But it's less common now.
Pre-covid there was loads of free postage, even from Japanese sellers :(
I rarely look at Japanese sellers now, but when I do all I see is ridiculous prices on ebay atm. It's like all the good sellers moved to another platform
Federal election this weekend
Well yeah (doesn't that happen everywhere?) but idk if it's as bad as the US.
Mostly saying the opposition is incompetent for whatever reasons, not getting really dirty like "this guy is a sociopath" or "this guy has dementia" :pwacko:
Leaders for both the major parties aren't ancient anyway. Having old people running a country would be plain silly :revwacko:
was in the mood for some duke nukem but wanted to play the expansions but can't run them on dos box. I looked and found out that the megaton edition had them all(all but "the duke zone") so I went sailing:wacko:
the carribean one is fun I haven't had this much fun playing nukem since I first played AE on pc years ago.
This is what happens when your dragon eats too many spicy burritos!!!!
Help, need frost dragon friend for anal relief!
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I just can't really get into Breath of the Wild.
Yeah it can be tricky - there's just too much empty space in my opinion. I have fun when actually doing something. I'm at 20 hearts with only doing the first creature dungeon thingum so guess I should plow through the main stuff at some point. I kinda fizzled out on this game a few months back.
Aww damn :(
Spoiler warning:
