Are there any better quality PATA to SATA adapters or is it all the same difference?
The little sata board kits you can get should work. You mod an original network adapter and still keep the network part that way.
But if you wanna keep your network adapter original just use a sata bridge adapter and a laptop HDD. I think a lot of people did for for some time before the kits were easy to get anyway.
The Chinese sata network adapters should be avoided. None have network it's removed entirely and they aren't even modified original adapters anyway.
So it's up to you.
Use genuine PS2 network adapter.
Mod a kit into it if you want, or just plug a bridge adapter onto it and use laptop sata.

This week has been horrible. I'm done with it lmao.
This whole year has been fucking horrible.
I almost want to take off for another walkabout for a year or 2.
It's been an alright year for me. Purging fast food and prepared meals (frozen microwave crap and the like) from my diet nearly completely has been nice.
This year hasn't been too bad so far, last year was worse.
But only halfway through this one so anything could happen
I'd definitely say the past....8 or so months have been pretty shit. :lol Too much struggling, not enough help.
Lytton broke Canada's heat record 3 times in 3 days (46.6, 47.5 then 49.5). Now it's on fire. Literally.
Do your trees explode?
BC Columbia and the West Coast have had extensive heat. Temps won't go down anytime soon.

You'd think people would have learned something after what happended to LoveRoms.
Silly Nintendo, of course he can't pay you if he has no income. Putting the site back up and serving different games is obviously his best option ^^;;;
I'll put it on my to do list but that's fairly substantial atm. Testing purchases gets priority anyway.
Welp, guess Black Widow is coming out in a week. Kinda get the feeling it won't be very good..
Cookie closed the PPP thread :(
:P
Basically, you use fmcb or whatever to flash your console to region free. Depends on the console model though.
The best scenario is like 750xx or whatever iirc. You can make it region free for ps2 and ps1. Also, backups.
Just been testing out GC-Plug on my PAL and NTSC-J Gamecubes.
Didn't come with a remote but I paired one easy (I've got a box of various spare remotes).
On LCD this looks better than s-video to my crt's (which are only 576/480i capable), I'm really pleased and it was heaps cheaper than getting the rare component cable :]
I've been using line doubling but not scanlines.
All your base are belong to us.

Changed SCPH-77002 to DTL-H77002 (DEX retail).
FMCB v1.966 multi install still works.
Need to check some retail discs (PS1&2) that aren't my region now, I'll post again later.
DTL-H77002 wouldn't boot anything other than PAL games, idk why
Restored SCPH-77002 and then converted to DTL-H77001 (US DEX).
Boots US retail PS2 DVD game ok.
Boots Asian (not JPN) retail PS2 DVD game ok.
JPN retail PS1, tried a few different titles and after playstation logo I get green screen (sound is working ok).
US retail PS1 tried FF IX, playstation logo becomes frozen (sound is working ok).
I've got some bootleg pressed PS2 discs here I might try, but I'm not sure what to do about PS1 games not working properly :thot:
The issue was pretty much lcd tv related. I was using component and obviously this panel doesn't like low resolutions over component, which is why the PS2 games were ok but the PS1 games had corrupt video.
Just tested a really old backup disc of King's Field (US). Booted up no problems
Grabbed discpatcher utility so I can try patching some PS2 CD and DVD dumps to masterdisc.
If this all goes well the console will be able to boot all backups without needing FMCB or anything like that :]
PS1 backups don't seem to need patching, but I haven't tested a US title with CP so maybe I should do that too :thot:
I should also probably dig out all of my slims and see if I have more models 750xx and above.
There should still be a box of slims at work so I should check what models are there at some stage.
I haven't tested any ESR discs, I don't have any atm.
I'm guessing it shouldn't, but it won't matter if it does anyway if patching to masterdisc works.
The console is essential a DEV console now.
FMCB still works (multi install on MC). FreeDVDboot still works too. I even tested PS1VModeNeg on USB using FMCB to launch the relevant elf.
Masterdisc patched backups I need to test now:
PS2 CD
PS2 DVD5
PS2 DVD9
Just tested a backup of Silent Hill Origins US (DVD5).
DVD-R patched to masterdisc, boots the same as a retail disc.
It won't boot if you try to launch via FMCB launch disc option.
The Thing US (CD)
Shadow Tower Abyss JPN (Eng-T DVD5)
^ Couldn't get these to boot as retail after patching to masterdisc (CD-R and DVD-R respectively).
So, I inserted my FMCB v1.966 memory card again and left disc lid open.
Selected launch disc from FMCB menu (with lid still open), you get black screen but wait for a second.
Then close lid and both of the above discs boot.
