Contra Japanese version, man its so much better than the American version. Why didn't they keep this stuff in for the American version? It would have been even cooler.
Earthbound , About to get the 4th sanctuary melody.
Just beat Link's Awakening, surprised I could even find it. Man what a game, can't figure out what I should play now cause I got so into the mode of that game. Been thinking about checking out the Super Mario RPG: Revolution hack. Supposed to really expand on the game and almost make it a new one. Hoping it's not just another hard mode, seen and beat that type of thing too many times before. Whatever it is, hopefully takes me more than a sitting or two.
Going to sit down with "Home" (Steam) right about now.
Just started Blacks Ops declassified. Already disappointed
I'm playing Mount & Blade: Warband. Having fun so far. :]
Only Proto Merkabah stands between me and finishing my Japanese replay of Xenosaga Episode 1. ^_^ I don't know whether it's a good or bad thing that it now takes me over a month to finish such a short RPG. :'D Had so much fun, though! Ultra-nostalgic~
Also bought Xenosaga Freaks and the DS Xenosaga I-II the other day. Because if we're going to do this whole play the Xeno series in Japanese in Japan thing, we're going to do it right~
Earthbound, got the 6th Melody. Gained a lot of Level's (4 for everybody) & almost 40,000$ thanx to Instawin technique in Dalaam's dungeon.^^;;;
Yakuza.
Hee, cool! ^_^ You'll finish them way quicker than I will, I expect. I'll be lucky if I'm finished by February. XD Honestly just amazed that I can understand them in Japanese, though. The Japanese in them is actually way easier than I expected, jargon words aside. ^^;;;
And yeah, they were censored pretty badly in their Western releases. In 1 and 2 the cut / edited material wasn't really a big deal and the scenes worked either way, but in 3 it was just ridiculous, and outright ruined one major scene in particular. D: In 1 and 2 they seemed to genuinely think about how to preserve the scenes in the best way possible while still getting the game released to its target audience. In 3, they just removed all the blood regardless of its importance to certain scenes and called it finished. So lame. D:
Rayman 3 is like a drug trip turned into a game. The desert level is when the trip goes bad.
Also tried Darkblood Online. It's a ton of fun. Also, titties.
Well, university life keeps me busy and as a Chemistry student, I can only play intensively on the week-ends after finishing my assignments. So yeah, I wouldn't bet on that one :sweat:
But fortunately, I lived in Japan for a while and am 90% fluent with the language, so I have little problem understanding the contents. Have also imported a few games from Japan mainly due to the audio. For localized games, I prefer to listen to the native voices. One major reason beside the cut contents to replay Xenosaga ^^.
So 3 was butchered that much, awwg, shame >_<.
BTW, what does your sig mean? Roughly translated, it's about a cat thanking its owner for drawing a picture of him even though it won't sell. Can't make much sense of that. Where is the quote from? :D
Oh cool, another importer / Japanese speaker! ^_^ I'm living in Japan at the moment, actually, but I studied Japanese for years before coming here. Mainly by playing videogames. :'D I always expected Xenosaga to be particularly difficult as far as videogames go because it's sci-fi and full of nasty jargon, but it's actually not that bad. Or maybe novels have just improved my Japanese to the point where videogame Japanese isn't very scary anymore. :'D And ditto on games. I always prefer the native dub. I'm the same with foreign movies, too. I always prefer the original language track, even if it's a language I don't understand. ^^;;;
It's from this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee_QaBjj08c. It's about a stray black cat who is hated by people for being a bad omen, but is one day taken in and befriended by a struggling artist who calls it Holy Night. The artist collapses one day through malnutrition and poor health, and uses his last remaining strength to write a letter to his love who waits for him in the town he grew up in, which he urges the little cat to deliver. The cat understands that the artist grew ill caring for him and drawing nothing but pictures of him which nobody was ever going to buy, and takes the letter all the way to the town, giving his life to fulfill his friend's last wish. When the artist's love reads the letter, she buries the motionless cat in the garden, adding a K to its name (hence the title, obviously), and turning it from Holy Night to Holy Knight. I'm slightly obsessed with cats and the song always makes me cry, particularly the lines in my signature. XD I don't know what possessed somebody to write a song about something like that, but I find it kind of lovely that somebody did. :'D
Pokemon Red :D
Just owned Brock and his Lackey with a level 16/17 Charmeleon spamming ember xD
The Suffering. I like the easier controls compared to what I get in most horror games, even if jumping around like a jackrabbit is more hilarious than scary. The atmosphere is downright fantastic, but when the actual monsters appear, it's not as scary. But sweet crap, the jump scares are top notch, hinting at how fucked up the prison really is. One of the few times jump scares aren't stupid.
Spoiler warning:
Jackal on Nes
Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns and Silent Hill 1, both are from my two favorite game series. (:
I'm about to start up a game of Hitman Absolution, but I've been playing Halo 4 almost non-stop for the last two weeks. I've beaten it several times now, and been playing the hell out of the multiplayer (SWAT mode is the best by far). I dabbled in some Black Ops 2 and it's done nothing but make me regret my purchase, especially coming out a week after Halo 4 it really makes you realize how much better of a game Halo 4 is, haha.
And the biggest news, I've played some of the Wii U stuff. I didn't buy one (thank god), but a good friend of mine did and he grabbed a few games. I went with him to pick it up at midnight, and lo and behold that damn system had a massive 5 gig update right off the bat. It was almost 3 am before we got to try the first game, which was Zombie U. I'll keep this short, but it wasn't very impressive at all, and all the controller stuff was just gimmicky and annoying. Next up we played the Mario title, and it's exactly what you'd expect - 2D Mario. Lastly, he played the Nintendo Land game - I didn't partake because I don't particularly care for mini-games and stuff like that so I watched him play through them. It was more amusing than I initially thought it would be, but it's not something I would ever spend time with. It's just like the Wii sports stuff from before - a game to show you basic features of what your new system can do.
So, I wasn't impressed, but I'm also a non-Ninty fan. My friend on the other hand is a pretty big Nintendo lover, and he was actually underwhelmed. He enjoyed the Mario game, but made the comment that "I might as well have just purchased this game on the DS." Load times are pretty lousy all in all, which leads me to believe there isn't a whole lot of horse power under the hood. The controller is actually light considering how bulky the sucker is, and the screen on it isn't bad. The whole "play a game on the gamepad vs the tv" thing is not something that I personally would ever use, and we both came up with the idea that we could at least take it to the bathroom and play a game whilst taking a dump.
That idea was squandered when we tried it and the damn range is only about 15 ft from the console, and unless the pad has an almost direct line of site to the system, it loses it's connection and tells you the Wii U can't be found. Ugh.
I can't comment on battery life since we had the controller plugged in most of the time, but from what I've been hearing it's only 3-5 hours, and most reports say it's really in the 3-4 hour range.
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text, but thought someone may find this interesting/helpful! (Oh, and this thing isn't flying off the shelves like I thought it would - I was out shopping today and Best Buy had 7 of them, both Gameslops I stopped at had systems, and Wal Mart had a crap load of them. Bet those scalpers are getting screwed online, lol.
Been Playing Streets of Rage 2, Uncharted 2.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade [Wii]. One of the best looking games, like ever
Saints Row: The Third in co-op, my god this game is the most fun I had in ages. It's like GTA4 except not shit. :wacko:
Exploring some Nes titles:- B-Wings,battle city etc.
On the 2nd boss in Sticker Star, I need to get some coins so I can re-buy the stupid Baseball bat. :/
Persona 4 Arena
Oh God, I did Elizabeth's Insta Kill Move in Arcade! Now to do Aigis and Labrys...
Just started Rage on Nightmare difficulty an hour or so ago. Enjoying it so far -- it's a gorgeous looking game. I've had to seriously fiddle with the controls to make them comfortable, though, and I don't like how you change weapons. Hopefully I'll get used to it. Otherwise, feels exactly like any old id game -- start the game, start shooting people. :top:
Playin The Amazing Spider-Man, the fighting engine kind of reminds me of the Batman Asylum series.
Just popped in Dishonored, hopefully it's as good as I've heard.
Counter Strike 1.6. Playing "De:Aztec" at the moment using Steyr Scout.
I generally don't use it but on this map it is challenging & insane fun to use it.
Final Fantasy VIII.
Playing as the best character in the game.
Spoiler warning:
Symphony of The Night again, beat it as Alucard and Richter the other day. Now I have the AXEARMOR password and it makes grinding funny looking. I wrote a lot of about this elsewhere. :)
More Persona 4 Arena
C'mon jeez! I only need someone to fight against Shadow Labyrs online, and I don't care if you're that good or not/neither of our a**es are getting kicked :wacko:
Halo Combat Evolved :D
Haven't played it in years. Ready to try it out on this terrible pc >_>
Has anyone played it with a controller? I tried a long time ago but I'm not sure how well t hat worked out...
