Here's a little something for anyone interested in who released what for SEGA Dreamcast, a zip file containing most (if not all) NFOs for the DC release scene from back in the day. I got it not too long ago from a site on AngelFire. Here's the Megaupload link for it:

1.99 MB zipped. Yes I am aware that you can find these on NFOrce but guess what, they don't have all the NFOs for every release. I found quite a few from this other site that weren't on NFOrce. Also, NFOs can be viewed with Notepad using the Terminal font for best viewing.;)

I sent Sprung a link to a news story about the re-release of the Dreamcast in Japan. It will be through Sega-Direct and although Lik-Sang does not have a link up yet, you can bet your panties they will....soon. This is big news. I hope it's not anti-modchip. If this really comes out, and I get my hands on one, I am getting

Hah. Good post :P My bet is that they use the post-October 2000 Bios. It won't boot ISOs. (unless people convert to DATA/DATA instead of AUDIO/DATA)

well i aint to worried about that cuz i have my old dremacast so there would be no reason to pick up this re released one

What about this Sprung? Do u think a group would spend some time on making one? Sega might release anywhere from hundreds to thousands of Dreamcast. Maybe more...so there would be a market for a chip.

Yeah, I have that. There were already mod chips specifically designed for Import playing. As far as I know they didn't boot ISOs.

The DC-X I have is an ISO, but it only works on real GD-ROMs, not ISOs. (and I can't re-copy the damned thing either...there's some weird stuff going on with the DC-X).

I don't own a Dreamcast & never had one before :(

edit: I just did a search on very small + star that becomes much brighter then gradually returns to its original brightness & found the entire Saturn Goodset. D*mn now if I can just find the same for Dreamcast, I will be one happy penguin.

About making a purchase

To Sega Direct customers,

Only those currently residing in Japan are eligible to purchase the machines

Point of importance:

Sales are limited to 1 unit per person.

Resale of the units is prohibited.

These machines are NOT compatible with MIL CDs.

About malfunctions:

We cannot replace the machine with a new one.

And finally, we can't bugger off without declaring that Sega's Dreamcast was a great console with some equally great games. Sadly, it only ever managed to live in PlayStation's shadow. It deserved better.

Just buy any old DC 2nd hand (made before Oct 2000 is it for US models) the ones from Sega Japan direct are 2nd hand anyway, just cleaned up a bit and yeah NOT compatible with MIL CDs.

:P at Sega they should release a DC that devers can program for freely, it's not as if they would release a new machine on the market now they gave that up a while back now, but a Machine that is open to development would go down very well and would also be out of the competition of Sony, MicroSoft and Nintendo although each can and has been deved for none are made open for that

i know the dreamcast is superior and i have one that can play backups but i just dont have any cd's and dont plan on getting any so i would rather mount it and play playstation style.

If use an NTSC TV anyway NTSC/U and NTSC/J games will work just fine with a NTSC/J light gun, it's only the NTSC bit you need to look at ;)

Speaking of Bleem, Zorlon will you tell us about it? I remember seeing Bleem in the retail stores but only for specific games. My questions are:

1) Does Bleem run just specific games , or can it run any ps1 game?
2) How does it rate compared to VGS and espxe?
3) Are there hacked versions of Bleem with ad-ons, more features, increased compatibliity?
4) Is Bleem even worth messing with?

While we are on the topic of Dreamcast emulators I use the Neo 4 All and it works great for most games. There are some games that will not work, but the ones that do run excellent. I have found a few cracks for neo geo games. I will patch these images with the crack and let you know if they will run on Neo 4 All. Has anyone else done this? Does it work?

One more question. Can you still surf or go online with the Dreamcast? If so how do you do it ? (There is probably a tutorial here ,sorry didnt check first)

Bleemcast was the only one for certain single PSX games though the beta can be used with any that work with it.... not that many will work though, it is a beta afterall

PC Bleem I have it's not bad but there is ePSXe now with 3D enhances and VGS was more compatable to start with infact still is the most compatable

Dreamcast Online is no longer supported but yeah you can still go online there are even a few servers to play Quake III and PSO on, or create your own server for PSO

Not messed on with the newer Neo 4 All yet.

Sorry to bring up something old but,
FYI If that is an official Sega gun And you are playing on a NTSC\U dreamcast you are SOL because sega has a region lockout on the official gun the only way to use that gun is to have a jap console and a jap or burned american game but I'm not even sure an american game will work

The only lockout is that PAL games display differently to NTSC games so a PAL light gun will only work with PAL games on a PAL TV and a NTSC/U or NUTC/J light gun will work with both NTSC/U and NTSC/J games on a NTSC TV because they both display the same way though if you are using a VGA Box light guns are then region free because VGA displays the same for PAL, NTSC/U and NTSC/J

P.S. I'm compiling a Dreamcast VGA Compatability list so far tested just over 100 games with over 80% that are directly VGA compatable, about 10% are VGA Compatable after patching or using the VGA switch trick (patching is beter though) and under 10% have no VGA compatatbility
