The last book I read was Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett.
It was really funny.
At the moment I'm reading The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett.. Also, various fan fics from fanfiction.net and stuff ^_^ ..
EDIT: Changed a typo ^_^

Well, with the LotR books, it's kinda easy to do that. :| I know that though I'm an avid reader, I had to take those in small chunks. Just read a bit here and there, as I did. After a time, you'll finish them. :)Quote:

Ah! Are you a fan of the Dark Tower stuff? I love it myself, having found that King has tied many of his books directly to it. I've found myself reading everything of his that I can get my hands on, because of that fact. I've yet to read 'Wolves of the Calla', but I certainly plan on doing so as soon as I can get my hands on a copy. :)Quote:

PG wodehouse~stiff upper lip jeeves
read only when in desperate need of humour.
A whole bunch of fanfiction. And not just fanfiction. Yaoi and lemon fanfiction. Thank the gods I can still type right. Cause I can't talk worth a shit. Lemons do that to me. They send me into incoherent babbling.
Wahh! Ignore me, please!!!! I'm just going spasmatic!!
@megami: i prefer comedy/parody in my fanfics. lemon and shoujo-ai is ok with me too. being a straight male sort of limits the appeal of shounen-ai to me.
@all: i just read vol 1 of the chobits manga + all 6 volumes released so far in english of "kare kano" (a great romantic comedy manga, source of the anime "His and Her Circumstances" i've also finished the first the english volumes of "azumanga daioh," another great comic manga.
I read Freak the Mighty..... ua cinduve read it because my stupid ****ing tacher told me thet "Ive goto get in a book report......... stupid ****ing teachers!!!!!!!!!
Heh, oddly enough, that's all manga that my local Software Etc has recieved recently. :P I've just got into "Azumanga Daioh", after having watched the first episode of the Anime, and the manga is suprisingly alot more odd then even the anime. Good stuff indeed. :)Quote:

i have the whole show on vcd and i can easily turn it into divx. act now and get the anime before adv releases it in the us.
Meh. I'm a girl, so I don't go towards the Shojo-ai/yuri. I prefer to see two guys dating. Hence Subaru and Seishirou are my favorite couple and Yami no Matsuei is one of my favorite anime/manga.Quote:

Anyway. I just finished reading a list of 'You Know You Love Fuuma Too Much When' stuff. The sad thing is that I do some of those things. ^_~
Last book i've read was Stephen King's Carrie.. :grazy:
Freak The Mighty was interesting. Very good plot, although I found the style to leave something to be desired. It's not your typical "good versus evil" novel that a lot of people read, it's more of a "finding yourself" kind of novel, which is refreshing when taken in small doses with lots of beer.Quote:

What I've read recently:
You don't want to know, trust me. You DON'T want to know. *looks around nervously* The Sakura is going to feed on my blood like a friggin' vampire.
*whacks herself over the head* Bad, hentai. BAD. *continues whacking herself*
i jsut finished Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor. now i'm reading Lullaby, by him.
i can't find fight club anywhere and i don't want to buy it...i'm not really a book buyer.
Me neither.. Thank god for libraries! :D
Finished Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean at last. What a story =) I want more instead of moving to new characters in the Elenium and Tamuli.
belgaraid was sw00nage:drool: how's mallorean haven't got down to buying it,buy it coz half the libraries don't have it.Quote:

i still didn't get the ending of belgaraid.was the stone pink because of the marriage?i thought it might be related to something in mallorean.
The Dreams of Sakura X message board. *snickers* annoying RPG players is fun!
I just finished reading Animal Farm by the satirist George Orwell. It's about the Russian Revolution leading up to WWI, but with animals. Y'know, it's satire. The book's 50 years old now-- wrote in 1953. It really was a great book though.
I just bought "The Count of Monte Cristo" I heard its good, and it was recommended to my by a lot of ppl, so im gonna read it.
i'm reading a scanlation of yotsubato, the new manga by kiyohiko azuma, creator of azumanga daioh.
Teenage Dirtbag by Kamui Kinomoto (fanfiction.net)
I can't get enough of that fic. So many pairings. FuumaxSeishirou, KeiichixKamui, etc. You get the picture. Don't read it.
The Web Between the Worlds, by Charles Sheffield.
Not a bad book at all, in my opinion...a feat of engineering and construction with the Beanstalk (A space elevator), a little mystery, and near the end, the idea of medical ethics versus finding a cure for a lethal (But extremely rare) disease.
I've read Agatha Christie
Mr Poirot... nice stuff
william shakespeare~julius caesar
don't stare.i like his stuff.this is the first play i read of his.the power of his dialouges........is.......just beyond words.

I tried to read him by myself (meaning I wasn't forced to by anyone) but I always felt like I was at school when I did so, I've gotta try again I spose. The fact that they force it down everyone's throats really spoiled it for me-a shame really.
Day of the Triffids- I read this thing in a couple of days, it really got me back in the day- very entertaining.
Space Merchants- this book is soooo cool, it has to easilly be one of my faves, gotta really read it again and see if I still like it (my opinions and like/dislikes seem to change over time). It's sci fi but about capitalism gone mad, set in the future.
Crime and Punishment- i don't want to read this one again as the subject matter (a man's journey through madness) is really quite disturbing (sort of like the game Silent Hill-love it but don't want to go through it again), but boy was it a powerful book. Really interesting.
well,we aren't forced to read him here.but it really is a shame, the way they force some people to read it.somethings are just meant to be enjoyed from within.either you like,or you don't.you can't be taught to love a man's work.Quote:

I definately recognize and appreciate the subtlety of his (or is it their-plural) work, and although i don't enjoy poetry usually, if I had to choose a poet i liked it would definately be old Shakey poo, you really have to think about every word when you read him, but yes school definately spoiled it for me- it sucks.
Oi, it's been a long time since I came here, but just finished Lord of the Flies.
Julius Caesar was pretty good, I'll admit. The problem with simply reading Shakespeare is that it's set up in play format, and thus everything is conveyed through words and it holds only dialogue, which can get boring sometimes, not to mention the lack of imagery.
V good book, did you catch the film (the old b&w one) that was also V good. Powerful message, especially if you read it when you are younger, all about peer pressure and the extremes it can get to. Go and read it if peer pressure affects you which it does, so read it!Quote:

/me laughs.
I'm reading it next year in English. I think I'll just wait... my teacher makes funny faces whenever he refers to it. ;)
I just finished reading "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks. Very good. If you've seen the movie (Shane West, Mandy Moore) and liked it, then definately read the book. They're different on so many levels, but still very good.
yeah, even in his sonnets imagery isn't given that much of priority,as opposed to many other famous poets.which is why i'm not really into his sonnets.his dialouges however are powerful enough to keep me hooked, most of the time anyways.his king richard plays on the other hand......:SQuote:

I just read Big Fish. The movie looked good so I read the book instead...it wasn't bad, it's kinda like a modern tall tale, and just a celebration of the narrator's dying father's life. I liked it. :)
All works of fiction I read these days I read for writing style or relation to politics.
Joseph Conrad: Youth/Heart of Darkness/The End of the Tether
Edward Said: Culture and Imperialism
I read a book about Tai-Chi.. Very interesting stuff.
Satan Bible, Laven (dunno how to write in eng)
great thing
I'm just re-reading some of my own works.
Amethyst Crystal
Seeing Your Pain
Bloody Embrace (It's been updated)
And I've been reading my friend's story 'A Ripple In The Water'
Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow series. Yummy :chinese:
Ozu and the Poetics of Cinema (David Bordwell)
a great book about one of the greatest film directors who ever lived. i'm also watching a lot of ozu's old silents, but that a little off topic.
